One day, it will be my turn. One day I'm the one who will take the lead and make a difference for the five nations and more generations to come, but...it was only an excuse to overpower my deepest thoughts about myself. This time will be different. I can show everyone what an Odder is truly capable of and end the discrimination towards Odders. One day, it will be my turn. I woke up with no sign of light. The dark was surrounding me from top to bottom. I was getting annoyed with the dreams I was having. I walked through the dark expecting to talk to that cobra again, but he wasn't there. I kept walking and this time it was different. There was a small green flame on the ground. I walked up to it and it was very tiny. I reached over to the flame and it was starting to grow. Immediately I threw my hand back from the flame. The flame grew bigger and swirled in all directions. The fire jumped at me and started to surround me. I had nowhere to go. The fire continued to grow bigger than jumped back in front of me. The fire was still and a pair of white glowing eyes appeared. "Midnight?" I asked. But there was no response. The fire turned to emerald-green fur and eventually looked like an emerald-green wolf with glowing white eyes, but this one was different compared to Midnight. This one wasn't standing on all four, rather this one was anthropomorphic. He looked like Midnight for his appearance, but it looked more like me. I tilted my head and it mirrored me. I moved my right arm and it mirrored that movement too. It was like I was looking into a mirror. I slowly reached out my right hand and it was doing the same. Both of our hands were an inch away from colliding, but I was hesitant. The fire in front of me didn't mirror my hesitation. Instead, it kept its hand right in front of him. It tilted its head as if it was confused. It snatched my hand and I jumped. The flame took me by surprise and I didn't know what to do. Its eyes softened as it loosened its grip on my hand. "It's your turn," it smiled. When the flame spoke, I was lost for words. My eyes widened, but this was impossible! Why did it sound like me!? Am I looking at myself!? The flame gripped my hand and spoke, "The future for generations to come is all in your hands Comet." The flame tapped me on the chest where my heart was and it vanished. "It's my turn?" I asked. The dream came to an end and I finally woke up. I sat up in bed and a random headache came out of nowhere. I rubbed my head a bit and glanced seeing that my parents were at my bedroom door. My dad was right behind my mom and they were both staring at me like they saw something they'd never seen before. "Umm...good morning?" I said. I was concerned, like what's going on? "Good morning Comet," my mom said with glee. They both continued to stare at me with a smile across their face. I was feeling really uncomfortable and awkward. I looked behind me, but there was nothing there. So if there's nothing behind me, then they're staring at me for some odd reason. "So umm...did I do something cause this is really uncomfortable?" I said awkwardly. "Oh, sorry dear, we're just, how do you say it...astonished at what we're seeing right now," my mom said. "Astonished?" I questioned. "About what?" I looked at my hands and I froze. My hands are emerald, green. I scrambled out of my bed and ran to the bathroom mirror. Every part of me was emerald-green and my eyes were glowing white. I looked just like the fire in my dream. I looked at myself and looked at the mirror over and over. I was in a panic and I wanted to know what was going on. Every breath I took was shortening and my heart was racing. My parents followed me to the bathroom and saw that I was in a panic. "Comet, listen to me," my dad said. "This is nothing to worry about, just calm down." "I can't calm down, why do I look like this!?" I panicked. "This is actually a good thing; this shows that you are the champion of our nation's spirit," my dad said. "You look just like him too," he complimented. I looked back in the mirror and noticed that I felt lighter like I was from last night's trip and felt that same surge of power that made my abilities feel different. I tried to calm down, but I wanted to turn back to normal. I'm not used to this appearance. Knock!! Knock!! There was a knock at the front door. "Oh, that must be your friends Ethan and Ivy," my mom said. I just realized that I have to go to the market with them, but I don't want them to see me like this. I don't know how they'll react. Maybe I should cancel and try again next time. "I'll go let them in," she said. My mom went down the stairs to let them in and I rushed to my room and hid under my blanket. "Comet!" my dad called. "Comet," he said as he walked into the room. "This isn't something to be afraid of." "That appearance is a sign saying that Midnight chooses you out of anyone else from this village to this nation." "He sees your potential Comet," he said. "Comet, are you coming!" Ethan shouted. "We've been waiting for you for quite some time now!" "Your friends are waiting," my dad said. I sighed and came out from hiding. "Come on, I'll walk with you," my dad said with a smile. I walked with my dad to the staircase and every step was a step closer to my friends. I wanted to know how I could turn back to normal, but when I look back at myself, I'm still the same. We were walking down the stairs and I had little to no time left. How will my friends react? My dad went down the stairs first and I followed behind him. My friends looked at me, but they were confused. "Umm...what's different about him?" Ivy asked. "Huh?" I responded. I looked at my hands, they were back to normal. The emerald-green color disappeared. I ran back up the stairs and to the bathroom mirror. "I'm back to normal," I said. "But how?" "Comet, c'mon we gotta go!" Ivy shouted. "Coming!" I shouted. I went back down the stairs and grouped up with my friends. "You three be safe out there," my dad said. "We will" Ethan responded. I closed the door behind us and the three of us went to the market, not far from here.
