"HARD RIGHT HARD RIGHT!"

Tanjiro heard the yelling, he heard the screaming. It was a blasting coming from his earpiece. This was giving him a headache.

Tanjiro yelled something incoherent and jerked the plane to it's side to try and avoid the enemy F-16. It was streaking along behind him, trying to get a good aim on him.

Damn this.

"TANJIRO!" Rengoku hollered again, "PULL UP! GET BEHIND HIM! AIM FOR HIS ENGINES!"

"IM TRYING DAMMIT- CRAP!" Tanjiro started to yell, but the F-16 had started shooting. Tanjiro felt the impact of hundreds of bullets hitting his rear. "HE GOT ME!" He yelled at Rengoku.

He got a glimpse of his partner spiralling left and right as he swerved to both avoid and take down the second F-16 that was on him.

"YOU'RE STILL UP! JUST KEEP TRYING! WE'LL GET OUT OF THIS!" Rengoku replied, sounding breathless.

Tanjiro was starting to feel lightheaded. But he forced himself to keep breathing properly and to stay awake. Their lives were on the line. And it wasn't like they were the best pilots in the world.

He'd been chucked into this world of dogfights and aircrafts only two years ago. He knew it was only damn good luck he'd made it this fair.

Tanjiro jerked his aircraft to the right, and kept making sharp turns to keep himself out of shooting range of the enemy aircraft behind him.

"HE COULD STILL HAVE A MISSILE," Tanjiro pointed out, "OR TWO. WE HAVE NO IDEA."

There was silence from Rengoku. The only sounds was Tanjiro's heavy breathing and the streaking of plane wings through the wind.

"THEN WE NEED TO GET THEM FIRST!" Rengoku shouted. Tanjiro heard him curse.

Tanjiro quickly took in his surroundings as he pulled out of a slight dive.

They were way too low in altitude. They were too close to the floor of the mountains. There was no way they were getting up those snowy monsters without getting shot down.

Upon arching up to try and gain a good shooting position, Tanjiro noticed a narrow gorge encased with rock on all sides. It was either a cave, or a way out.

It was very tight though.

Damn. There were two options.

Either, shoot the F-16s down with their one single missile each, or try and escape through that damn narrow gap.

Tanjiro heard another particularly violent shriek from the wings and saw his F-16 coming up beside him.

It was trying to cut off any escape roots and perhaps release missiles.

Crap. What to do?

Tanjiro pulled the plane up and spiralled in the other direction. Breathing heavily and fighting off his blackening vision.

This could be the place he died. Or it could be the place he escaped death.

"RENGOKU," he said into his receiver, "WE CANT TAKE DOWN THOSE PLANES HERE. ITS TOO TIGHT AND RISKY. BUT AT YOUR SIX O'CLOCK IS A SMALL GAP THAT POTENTIALLY LEADS OUT OF HERE. IF WE PLAY IT RIGHT, WE COULD GET OUT!"

Tanjiro jerked the plane again to avoid the F-16 as it streaked behind him.

Silence. More silence. Then-

"Let's do it. We either get out, or we die brave men."

Tanjiro swallowed.

Brave men. He certainly didn't feel brave right now. He felt like a trapped mouse with only one way out - between the predators legs.
