A/N: this is is happening not long after Klee passes in the one shot before this.

I love the way you smile. The way it can brightened up anyones day. They way it can raise peoples spirits on a dark and gloomy night. The way you smile when your reading your favourite book. The grin or your face when I confessed my feeling to you. And the brightest smile of all was on the day I asked you to marry me. But now I'm sat her by your side, not a smile in sight. As you take your final breaths on this pale bed tonight. Your soft hair no longer tied together with an elastic. As your emerald green eyes stare of into the night. My fingers are intertwined with yours as your lay there looking so peaceful.

"Jean.." Lisa called out in a quiet voice. Her face turned to look at her lover. "Please don't leave me.." she said, tears springing at the corner's of her eyes. A tear flowed down Jean's cheek as she looked at her girlfriends pained expression.

"I won't don't worry," she said as she lifted the brunettes hand up to her mouth and placed a gentle kiss on the back of it.

"I don't want to die alone," she began to cry.

"Shhh, shhh" jean soothed her. "You won't, I'll be here." She said with a forced smile as tears ran down her face. Lisa nodded whilst biting her lip trying not to let the tears continue to flow down her rosy cheeks.

What I just can't get my head around is why you didn't tell me. It pains me now knowing what you were going through and not have been able to help you. Why didn't you tell me? Why didn't you tell me you were cursed? We could have had so much more time together.

"Im sorry," Lisa whispered. Jean looked at her in confusion.

"Hey hey hey, you have nothing to be sorry about." She said as she placed a hand on her cheek. The tears began to flow down Lisa's cheeks once again.

"I should have told you," she said through strangled sobs. Jean simply shook her head, trying to contain her own tears, and began to rub circles in the back of her lovers hand. The two sat there in a comfortable silence for a while.

"Hey Jean?" Lisa said and Jean raised her head.

"Yes darling?" She said.

"Can you tell me a story?" She began whilst turning her head back to look out the window. "The one about the two queens who defied society and got married?" She asked and Jean nodded her head.

"Of course." She said with a pained smile.

Now I'm sat here with my hand wrapped around yours whilst I tell you the story of the young princess. She knew she liked woman but defied her father anyways and when death struck in her lovers direction, she pulled her away. The two of them got married, had children and grew old together. If only that could have been us. Just as I'm about to tell you the part about the princess saving her lover from death you speak up again.

"I love you Jean," Lisa whispered. Those words were the last thing to leave her mouth as her heart stopped beating and no more breaths left her mouth. Jean lowered her head in her hands as she let Lisa's now limp hand fall out of hers. She sat there for a few minutes whilst holding her tears in. I have to stay strong. She wouldn't want me to be upset. She would want me to be happy she found peace. Slowly she stood up from her hair at the side of the bed and left the room, not before placing the blanket over her lovers face gently. She couldn't handle to see her lifeless expression, the smile that was no longer there. She closed the door slowly and stood for a minute before collapsing in her knees and beginning to cry. I'm sorry Lisa, I can't help it. She thought whilst rubbing her eyes but to no avail the tears kept pouring down. I didn't even get to say I love you back, I didn't get to say goodbye. She sat for a good five minutes crying before one of the knights ran up to her looking panicked.

"Master Jean," he said panting. "Albedo and Klee left over an hour and a half ago and still haven't returned, they only went for a short walk to windrise." Jean's eyes widened. Why aren't they back yet? They should be back by now. Panic shot through her as she's got up off the floor and ran out the headquarters, ignoring the shouting from the knights behind her.
