Hey. My name is Wybie, short for Wyborne. Not my idea of a name... if I could have it my way, I would've called myself Sir Charles... but then people would be calling me 'Chuck' as a nickname, so really there isn't a win/win situation here.

But let's ignore all that and come to the acceptance that my name is indeed Wybie (short for Wyborne).

Great! Now that we've got that out of way, you're probably wondering about me and what my story is.

Well, to finish this off quickly, my story is HER.

Coraline Jones... or who I like to call 'Jonesy".

See, before she came into my life... I didn't really have any friends... not even A friend – if you discount my cat.

But Coraline? She was just... so SO cool! And she was being enrolled into my middle school!

I just could NOT believe my luck.

She was so cool... (Did I say that already?).

And I am happy to announce that she was indeed my friend now, y'know, after I saved her life and then she saved mine, equal footing.

So where to start? Probably at the first day of our new school year.

Coraline and I both met up just before the school gates and she gave me a coy smile, saying full of un-doubting confidence.

"This will sure be fun."

I burst into laughter, I didn't mean to and she gave me a confused look, but she was so funny with the lines she came out with sometimes.

"Oh, no, Jonesy," I proclaimed, smiling at her and parking my bike at the bike rails next to a wall, "This will be hell."

"And how come...?" She asked, truly questioning my words.

"Because school is full of bullies and tests and tests and-"

"I get it," Coraline interrupted with a roll of her eyes and just walked through the gate opening, I followed behind quickly.

As we headed for our class, I could see eyes of other students looking at us from afar. This, of course, made me very nervous and fidgety.

When we entered our locker area, I dropped my black school bag straight to the floor and quickly unzipped it, getting my books and timetable all sorted out and packed away.

"So," Coraline said as she watched my quick movements before sliding her own bag off her shoulders easily and changing her own books with less hesitancy and fear, "Do you know anyone here? Or just me?"

"I, um..." I muttered, glancing up at her from my hunched over back and gave a worried smile, "I do... actually."

"Oh?" Coraline mused and zipped up her bag, placing it back on her petite shoulders.

"Y-yeah," I continued and added on uneasily, "My cousin, Zackery."

"Zackery?"

"Someone call my name?!"

The two of us jumped back from the loud voice booming in our ears and our eyes quickly looked up to see a black young adolescent with thick curly unruly hair and a glint of confidence in his dark eyes.

"You're Zackery?" Coraline asked him quickly and he just stifled a laugh, nodding his head and replying.

"Duh? Who else..?"

Coraline raised an eyebrow and I laughed uncomfortable as I approached my cousin and pulled him off a bit to the side.

"Cuz," I told him quickly, glancing back nervously to Coraline and seeing her look up at the clock on the wall in impatience, "Can you not be so loud around my new friend?"
