Reader POV

"Hey, l/n, mind listening to us a bit?!"

A loud yell resonated in my ears. Although I wasn't bothered one bit. It was just Riki trying to scrap up an excuse for yelling again.

This happens almost every day. It's either when I'm listening for the final bell, or when I'm reading a book that was hidden under my desk all day.

Today, it was probably both.

"I can hear you." I said without looking up from my book.

"Didn't you hear the final bell go off? Get out of here." Riki's last comment didn't faze me, but I was surprised that I didn't hear that annoying, blaring bell go off, even though my desk was so close to it. Must be the book, or the nonsense of my classmates.

"Wait- why'd the bell go off this early?" I asked, realizing how early the end of school was today.

"Ugh, don't you read school notices, l/n? It's the 4,000th day of school! We get out early." She threw her hands up in the air like it was a good thing. Don't we come back tomorrow anyway?

She then walked away with her hands on her hips. Knowing that she was gone, I bookmarked the page I was on, placed my book neatly in my bag that sat under my chair, and strolled out of the classroom.

Once I was outside of the building, I started towards the bus stop, and sat down on the bench, waiting for the bus.

I felt around in my jean pocket for my bus pass. I... Couldn't feel it. I looked in my other pocket, unworried. I still couldn't feel it. "Damn it..." I muttered. I always keep my bus pass in. My. POCKET.

"Hey." A masculine voice bounced against my eardrums. Also, someone poked me. I looked up and noticed a beautiful silver haired boy staring me down. His ice blue eyes held nothing but innocent curiosity. He wore a violet sweater, and brown pants.

"Don't have your bus pass?" He asked.

I couldn't say anything or, do anything. He was too beautiful. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, hold a second... AM I IN LOVE?! No no no no no no no no no no. No, that can't be right.

I could only shake my head.

"Then we'll use mine. Come on, the bus is here." He held out his hand for me to take. I blinked my e/c eyes in utter confusion.

One, I didn't know why he was holding out his hand. Didn't I just know he existed? Two, wait, the bus is here?

I just grasped his hand and he pulled me up. His hand was so soft...! I almost regretted letting go of it. We stepped on the surprisingly empty bus.

We took seats that were next to each other. After the bus rocked and moved, I finally said something.

"Uhh..." Crap why am I so stuck today?

"Yes~?" His eyes were closed, but he still responded.

"Thank you so much. I wouldn't have been able to get home without you..." I almost stuttered that time. Come on, y/n, what is WRONG WITH YOU?!?

"No problem miss..." He trailed off, opening his eyes and directing them to me. Or should I say, my nose.

"Y/n L/n. That's my name, mister..." I did the same thing to him.

"Killua Zoldyck. That's my name miss Y/n L/n." He chuckled, slightly leaning closer to me. A smile was on his face, making it even more beautiful. WHAT? Shut your face, y/n.

Wait, Zoldyck? That famous and infamous assassin family? I thought of them as famous, but... Other people...

"Mine my last name, please, Miss l/n." He knew what I was thinking, apparently. "What! No, no, no. I wouldn't dare." I said reassuringly.

Killua's smile grew wider and more meaningful. "How are old are you, y/n?"

"14. Weird age to be in."

"15, nice age to be in."

Well good for him. "So where do you live?" He asked suddenly.

"Excuse me; I hardly think that's any of your business." I put my hand in my chest, pretending to be disgusted.

"Whaat? I thought we were already friends."

I froze. Friend? I have a friend? I haven't had an actual friend since... I looked out the window next to me. I realized then it was my block, and I called out to the bus driver. "Wah! Driver! Stop please...!"

"Oh? This is your stop?" Killua looked out the window.

"Yeah. Oh... Wanna meet again sometime?" I could have SWORN I felt my damn cheeks heat up...!

"Sure. How about by the cafe near your school?" He replied as soon as I stood up from my seat.

"How do you know where my school is, and how do you know that's MY school?" I interrogated.

Killua knitted his brow. "Excuse me, I hardly think that's any of your business, miss l/n."

I held back the urge to laugh as I waved "see you later" to him. Watching the bus leave, I felt a mixture of wistfulness, joy and... Something I couldn't explain. I fought the urge to jump up and tell the world that I have a friend after eight years. Eight years after my family died, and as started to live alone. It tore me apart after those eight years. But maybe a friend, maybe Killua could change... All that.

I don't know. We'll just have to see tomorrow. I walked onto the porch of my front yard.
