I'm sorry, I know authors notes can be annoying, but I just wanted to make you readers aware that this is set in a world where Mrytle has just died, but the dark lord's name is already out there; the students think that the dark lord killed her but as Hagrid was framed school is still in session. So yeah, they don't know Tom is the dark lord.
