Chapter Nine

Kik, Death, and Evidence

Liam's POV

When I first received the letter, I wondered who it could've been from. My first thought was a fan but the fans didn't know my personal mailbox address. Yet. When I opened it, I couldn't believe who had written it to me. Why? Because I had never spoken to this person in my life, yet he gave me information that could put my life in danger.

I stared at the hand written letter, the ink from the pen wearing out. The letter was a month old, according to the date on the letter itself.

"Liam? Are you okay in there?" I heard Danielle's voice yell through the bathroom door. I grunted a 'yes'. I didn't know how long I had been in there but long enough that my arse was starting to hurt.

I got up and exited the bathroom. The letter had arrived the day after Christmas, today's date: December 26th. I waved to Danielle and my family, assuring them I was okay. I wanted to tell someone but I didn't want to put their life in danger too. I had to tell authorities soon though. I couldn't keep this information under wraps forever. I needed fresh air. I needed to take a walk. So I did.

I past the trees in the park, my feet connecting with the pavement with every step. I watched little boys & girls play in the sandbox, their parents watching from afar. A few girls I noticed had stopped and stared at me. I smiled and waved, but continued to walk. I knew they probably wanted a picture but I just wasn't in the mood.

My foot arched up off the ground a bit and I saw that I had stepped on a little rock. I kicked it further down the pavement, walking towards it to kick it again. I used to do this all the time when I was little. I stuffed my hands in my pocket and kicked the little rock as far as I could. I watched it with my eyes and saw it bounce off a persons foot. I looked up to apologize but I recognized the face.

"Hey! Do I know you??" I questioned, running towards the girl. She looked up at me from her book and shook her head.

"No. But I know who you are." She laughed and I joined in. I think the majority of the world knew who I was.

"Aha. Yeah. I mean I've seen you somewhere but I can't place where." I pondered and stared at her face. Non creepily of course. Her eyes were brownish green, her brown hair fanning out behind her from the windy breeze. I know I have seen her before but when? Where?

"I would say you look familiar too but you know.." She left off at the end and I nodded. Posters, billboards, clothes, etc had me on it with the other lads and something by myself. Suddenly it clicked. The lads. Whitney. The funeral.

"Did you happen to go a funeral this year? Say about 3 weeks ago?" I asked her. Her brown eyes widened and she nodded. She scooted across the bench she was planted on with her book. I took that as a cue to sit and joined her.

"I did. How do you know this?" She asked. I was surprised she didn't remember. I had seen her from across the way, while I was at Mark's funeral. But when I went to see her, she was gone.

"I went to funeral for a friend and saw you across the way. But when I went to say hi, you had disappeared." I told her. Like the gears were moving in her head, clicking, her eyes went wide.

"The funeral for-"

"Andy." We both finished together. I nodded and she gasped.

"How do you know him? I mean he didn't have many friends." I said. She laughed but coughed to cover it up.

"Um. Long story." She stood, closing her book and putting it under her arm protectively. I opened my mouth to speak but my attention was called elsewhere.
