She met Kurapika during the 4th faze of the hunter exam. They were lucky enough to have become friends with him and meet the others. Since then, they've become almost like a "big sister" figure to the group since they tend to help the others too often and hang around Gon and Killua often to steer them clear of anything she deemed unsafe.
Though because of this, she did save Gon's live one by making sure he didn't eat an alien looking berry that was most definitely poisonous due to a dead bird on the ground near by.
