Hawkins. Why did it have to be Hawkins. Moving from my safe reside from Bakers Falls in Oregon to a small area of Hawkins. Roane county to be exact. Let me tell you why we're moving. Let's just say my Dad's multi million dollar company wasn't working out to good in the end. Which left us with barely any money. So we had to sell up our luxury beach view home to move to a house nearing a forest. Seemed like there's perfect desirable home for a serial killers victims.

"Are we nearly there yet?" My little brother, Hunter, asked as we pulled into Indiana. So far I wasn't seeing anything that was grabbing my attention. No person or even scenery.

"Not long now. Only another 45 minutes. Well that's what Auntie Pen said to me." Dad said to us, Auntie Pen was allowing us to live in her house until we could afford a new place. She was currently living somewhere on a ranch.

"When did you say we start school here? Just so I know when to skip." I said to Mom, she shook her head and looked back.

"I get that your mad Y/n, but please try to enjoy it. Make friends and who knows maybe you'll find someone that you like. But you start school on Monday. Give you both some time to unpack and to settle in." Mom said with a smile, she didn't want to be here like me. She was just putting on an act for my Dad. It wasn't his fault that his friend stole his whole company from under him.

"I wonder if anyone plays D&D here? Then I can be in another party." Hunter said to us, he was into that kinda thing. I didn't see the point of it or understand any of it. But it makes him happy and that's all that matters.

"I'm sure there will be and they'll be lucky to have you." I said to him with a smile. The last 45 minutes in the car went by in a breeze and when we pulled up to our new home. It was nice but it was just missing something. I just couldn't place my finger on it.

"What are we saying kids?" Dad asked the two of us, I looked around. The atmosphere was quiet. No one around. It all just seemed odd to me.

"It's quiet." I said to him, I had to say what was on all of our minds.

"Y/n, it's 5pm. People are either at home or eating out maybe even at a bar. Don't judge it immediately." Dad said to me, hopefully he was right or we'd need a serious talk. Once we started unpacking I found my room. It was covered with a thick layer of dust. This was just great. Paradise some would call it.

"Mom, where are the cleaning supplies?" I shouted down the stairs to her. I saw her head appear around the corner.

"Down here in the kitchen. First box on the right." She said to me, I immediately went downstairs and retrieved them. I wasn't sleeping in a dust infested room. Once it was clean I began to unpack. The last item left was a picture of me and my friends. I was going to miss them more than anything.

"Shit. We don't have a phone." I heard Dad say to Mom from downstairs.

"Do you want me and Y/n to go buy one?" Hunter asked them as I went downstairs. Somewhere had to be open.

"If you wouldn't mind." Dad said to us, I looked at him.

"We don't mind. Let's go." I said to Hunter, we both put our jackets on and left the house.

"Do you even know where we're going?" He asked me, I looked down at him and shook my head.

"Not a clue, but at least we get to explore." I said to him before we wondered off. Of course new place and no map we got lost. We were kinda worried that we wouldn't make it home. Until someone saw us.

"Hey, I couldn't help but notice. Are you two lost?" This guy asked us as we were just stood on a corner. The guy looked around my age, he must be in high school.

"How could you tell? But we moved here today and have no idea where anything is." I said to him, he smiled and ran his hand through his hair. There was something about this guy. I couldn't tell if I liked him or not.

"I'm Steve. Steve Harrington." He said to me with a smile. His smile was kinda cute and I guess he sorta was as well.

"Y/n Solace and this is my little brother Hunter." I said with a smile.

"Now where exactly are you both looking to go?" He asked me with a smile.

"Anywhere that sells phones." I said to him, he looked around.

"That's a bit of a walk, I can drive you there if you want." He said to us with a smile. Could we really trust someone we just met. Hunter and I looked at each other.

"It's down to you." I said to Hunter, he looked up at Steve.

"Can you drive us there?" Hunter looked up and asked him. Steve smiled at the two of us.

"Sure thing." He said as he took us to his car which was around the corner.

"You're not going to kidnap us right." I said to him making him laugh.

"I really look like the type?" He asked me, I looked him up and down.

"No but who knows. You can't trust everyone." I said to him and he gave me this look.

"Well, you can trust me." He said to us before it went a bit silent. "So where did you guys move from?" He asked us, I looked at him.

"Oregon from a place called Bakers Falls, it's near the beach." I said to him with a smile.

"I've never heard of it but it's gotta a big difference from Hawkins." He said to me as he turned down a road.

"It is, I already miss it." I said to him after a few more minutes we were at a store.

"I'll wait for you guys. Take you back home, it's getting dark out." He said to us with a nod. I nodded as well. I still didn't know if I liked him or not. When we walked into the store we saw a lady working the cashier desk. 'Joyce' was written on her tag.

"Welcome, if you need any help I'm here." She said to us with a smile I smiled back at her.

"Thank you, Joyce." I said to her with a smile. We then went to find a phone and once we did we took it straight to the checkout.

"You must be new around here." She said to us with a smile.

"We are, we moved next to the Wheeler's I don't know if you know them." I said to her with a smile as I handed her the money.

"I know them, my son plays D&D with their son, Mike." She said to us I saw Hunter smile.

"There's people who play D&D here?" He asked her, she laughed a little.

"You play as well I see, I'll have to tell Will about you. Maybe you'll become friends." She said to him with a smile. She smiled back. We quickly finished up before Steve drove us home. I thanked him.

"I'll see you on Monday." He said to me with a smile.

"See you then." I said to him with a smile. I got out the car and Hunter and I walked inside.

"We're back with a phone." I said to them. The rest of the night was silent. The next day we met the Wheeler's and I made friends with Nancy. Well I think, it's hard to tell. When school started I met a few more people Jonathan, he was a bit of a loner. Barb, Nancy's best friend and Eddie who I accidentally bumped into in the hall but he was nice enough to take the blame even though it was my fault. Maybe I got Hawkins all wrong. Maybe it was a safe place and not a place of chaos or anything bad.
