" take yo time pastor!" voices yelled throughout the church as Reverend Reeds preached about John 13:13
" even tho things have happened to us in life that may have hurt us and appeared to put us at a disadvantage , it had to happen, I guarantee that everything that happened I-in you life happened for a reason and the Lord is going to remove anything and everything that he feels doesn't belong with you" Reverend Reeds said
" I said do I have a witness? you may not have wanted something to happen and you may have wanted it to happen another way but it didn't , I wanna suggest to you tonight my friend that it might be helpful for you to understand that the things that happen to you in life had to happen and Jesus could say the same... "
" I don't think y'all hearing me I said Jesus could say the same, Jesus could look at his life and all of the mis communications and mistreating and even tho it was unfair he knew it had to happen and it was for a reason "
" preach bishop!" my moma and a lot of other voices yelled as I clapped
" I'm not gon tell you every bad thing has a justification cause the Lord will strike me down but most of them do, and after those bad things you'll be like why that happen or you'll be blaming God for whatever the case might be but you need to ask yourself why, why was that person removed from my life or why did I just get fired" he said
" I remember one time and I tell this story a lot... sorry Sheryl but I have to tell 'em" he said smiling at his wife, he's about to get out of character
" back when I was a young man I was what people would call a pimp and there was this one girl I called myself fooling round with.. and for the sake of the babies ears let's just say she ended up doing something that shocked me... look at yo neighbor and say neighbor.. it had to happen" he said
I turned towards my mom repeating why he said
" I'm not gon keep y'all long my brothers and sisters, I know y'all ready ta go eat those after service meals and watch y'all tv shows"
I laughed with everyone else in the church
" bow yo heads and close yo eyes, dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for allowing us here safely for yet another great service, I ask that the message gave upon today does not fall deaf on ears but stays with them for as long as they may need it, oh lord I ask that you protect every last one of my brothers and sisters as they travel away from the house and continuing to protect and watch over them like I know you well, oh Lord I hope that you allow us to see another service like this one of Sunday and be with us for the week approaching that Sunday" he prayed bowing his head with his eyes close
