Leaving You Behind

Chapter 1

Two years ago...

I walked into the conference room for the monthly conference, I see Erica one of my work friends and walk over to sit next to her.

"Hey do you want to go out with the group to the bar down the street?" She asked
"Sure! That sounds like fun what time do you want to meet there?"
"We were thinking about 7 just so we could change into something more interesting before going out."
"Ok sounds like a plan meet you there."

I turn around and hear footsteps walking in it's my boss Jake, he is usually nice but you know he can't always be friendly. He sits down at the head of the table and starts explaining some things, I usually zone out what he is saying and before I know it I'm walking out of the room going back to the break room before I start my rounds on my patients.
I plop down at the table and sigh, it has been a really boring day mostly because we had a meeting and I hate meetings. I love my job don't get me wrong but when we have meetings I literaly want to rip my eyes out from boredom. I get up to go to my stuff in my locker and realize that there is a Hershey's Kiss, I love those, one of my favorite candies. The problem is I know exactly where is came from. Will, my coworker, he is a doctor and he is always trying to be around me, I find it quite annoying but I get some things out of it so I don't mind as much.
I decide to be friendly and go and try to find him but I can't find him anywhere. But then again he is always around doing things and might be with a patient so I might just try again later. I wander back over to the break room and start grabbing things for my rounds on patients. I hear footsteps walking my way and I look up to see Amanda, she has some weird look on her face she looks really exited.
"I heard rumor you are going out for drinks with us?"
"That would be true."
"You never go out with us, what is this change in intention?"
It's true I never go out to do things with my friends anymore but its because after work I'm usually too exausted to do anything so I just stay home and sit around.
"I mean yeah, but here I am now so don't worry."
"I'm really excited to hang out with you again girlie! You only really talk to a few people here and I hear a lot of people from work are going to be there so you can meet new people and maybe talk to Will because he wont shut up about you, its honestly starting to annoy me because I don't really care anymore."
"Wait Will is going to be there, Oh lord could this get any worse?"
"Yeah I was talking to him, he seems pretty excited to go."
"Yeah well I'm going to have to confront him soon because he got me this Hershey's Kiss so I have to thank him for that I guess."
"Well better catch him soon we only have an hour left."
And with that she walks away, giving me a wink. I just put my face in my hands, why is he talking about me to Amanda. I get up from the table and walk away and start my rounds they don't take me that long. I look down at the time and realize its four o'clock, only an hour left before I get to go home and actually spend time with my friends, hopefully I don't run into Will there because that would be bad, me under the influence of alcohol and looking at a very handsome man. Wait why am I thinking about things like that I need to stop thinking like that.
I quick get some work done and right before I'm about to leave I decide to take a stop by the nurses desk because I see Will and I go to say thank you, He is stitting there getting work done, he looks so peaceful and he is working hard, he has on dress pants and a dress shirt and its fits just right in all the right places, God damit Amelia you need to stop thinking like that. I approach his desk and he looks up from him computer then looks back down and has to take a double take, it must have surprised him because I don't usually go by him during the day. He gives me a big smile.
"I was just coming here to say thank you for the the Hershey's Kiss"
"Anytime Amelia, so are you going to stick with your plan on going to the bar tonight?"
"Yes I will be there, I think it is time to get out and do some stuff and talk to people instead of locking myself in my house all night, also it's Friday."
"Ok, I will see you there!"
"Yup, same to you."
I walk away from the nurses desk and check the time, it's 5:10, I walk out the door to my car and drive home so I can get dressed. As I walk to my closet I decide what I want to wear, I don't really know what I want to wear but I definitely want it to be a dress, I finally decide on a simple black dress long enough to almost cover my knees. I'm going to the bathroom to make sure my hair looks ok from today. I don't really have to do much because it was already done this morning, just giving it a few touch ups. I realize it's only like 6:00 and I still have like an hour to get there. I walk to go sit at my kitchen counter and pull out a book. It is really boring but I want to be involved because this is for my book club. I look back up at the time when I finish a few chapters and it is now about 6:50. I decide it is time to leave since the bar is about ten to fifteen minutes away from my apartment. I grab my purse, touch up my make up and make my way out the door to head to the bar.
