Leaving You Behind

Chapter 2

   As I'm walking up to the bar I realize a few things about it, I mean I haven't been here in a while but they have really worked on it. There is a beautiful stone on the outside and it is lit up, it feels very warm and inviting. There is just a glow about it that makes it comforting. I walk in the door and look around, there is quiet music with a bunch of people talking, It is fairly crowded but it's a Friday and that is to be expected. I walk around looking at everything, people are so happy. I see a bunch of people waving their arms and I look at them, I see Amanda in that crowd and move over to them. I put my stuff down at the table they are crowding around and sit down, I don't even have to look up to know someone is staring at me. I look up and immediately feel those eyes go off of me. The server has come over to us to take our drinks and I wanted something lighter so I could actually drive home tonight and make it home safe since I don't want to call an Uber. I look up at the server and tell him that I want wine and he nods and writes it down on his order pad.
As he walks away everyone gets up to go over and talk to each other, I go over to Amanda and talk to her,
"Hey thanks for inviting me to this, I see this place has gone uphill since I have last been here, it actually looks really good."
"Yeah they have been working on it for the past few months and it has been looking pretty good. I'm surprised at what they could do with this place."
I turn around to look at all the people in the bar since it is pretty crowded and I hit my face on someone's chest, whoever this is works out a lot and goes to the gym regularly because they have a nice set of muscles. I look up at who I just bumped into and immediately get blushed all over my cheeks, I'm pretty sure my whole face turned red.
"Hey sorry about that, I turned around pretty fast." I said speaking pretty loud since there was a lot of noise in here. I feel quite embarrassed now since it was him I bumped into.
"You're completely fine, it's very packed in here." He says with a grin on his face. He just looks so nice, honestly if I was looking for a relationship right now I would go out with him. I actually never talk to this dude besides the times he is flirting with me.
"I want to get to know you a bit better."
"Ok what do you want to know?" I don't think he knows what he is getting himself into because he has this confused look on his face.
"Um, hold on, let me think, what is your favorite movie?"
"You can ask me any question in the world and you picked what my favorite movie is? By the way, it is Batman."
"What do you mean asking what your favorite movie makes me get to know you better? It shows me what you're into, like now I have the impression you like DC more than Marvel, you might want to answer which one you like better because there is a right and a wrong answer."
"Well DC is the right answer indefinitely."
"What do you mean? I am a Marvel fan ride or die but I like some of the DC movies."
"We might have a problem between us then."
"I guess that is ok we can work that out, ok next question, what is your favorite book?"
"I don't really have one, I don't read much."
"But you work at a publishing company, how do you manage that?"
"Usually I'm busy at work so I don't have time to read but I find anything really interesting."
"Ok fair point, you ask me a question now."
"What is your favorite candy?" He looked at me with a grin in his eyes.
"I would have to go with any type of Hershey's candy, they just have great chocolate."
"That's perfect that I got you that Hershey's kiss then right?"
"Yeah that was nice of you and yummy, ok ask me another question."
He looked down at me as if he were thinking about something, it felt like he was debating something. He lets out a breath of air and the room suddenly gets tighter as the air hits my neck and I feel shivers up my spine. He takes another few seconds to think and then finally says something.
"If I were to ask you to go on a date with me would you say yes?"
I was very shocked for him to ask me this, I knew it was going to happen sometime soon, but I did not think this soon. I looked up at him and then looked off to the side, I mean he was not bad looking he definitely looked great don't get me wrong, I just don't think I'm ready for a relationship, but what harm could one date do to me. I keep thinking, debating my options, how bad could it be, he is sweet and I know he will take care of me. I finally decided.
"If you were to ask me that I would say yes because that sounds fun, and if you were going to ask where you want to go for this date I would say I would want to go to that fancy restaurant down the street and meet you on Sunday at 6:30"
I looked back at him and his jaw was wide open.
"What is wrong with you?" I asked
"I just was not expecting you to say yes and now I'm excited. Also I can just pick you up that will be easier."
"Well you best be excited. Here is my address." I say this as I'm typing into his phone.
Just before I was going to start talking to him again I looked up and the server was taking orders for food, I quickly looked through the menu looking for something to eat since I had not eaten anything for dinner because I wanted to get food here. I decide on getting a chicken wrap, something that will soak in the amount of wine I will be consuming and make the drive back less horrible, because if I have to leave my car here and call an Uber I will be very disappointed in myself. After the server goes around the table and takes everyone's food I start wandering around the table talking to other people to let Will compose himself after he has been shocked to the next century.
I see another one of my coworkers Elizabeth, I head over to talk to her. Honestly I should talk to her more. She is a super happy and outgoing person and has a great personality. The only thing is that we don't do much at work together except that we see eachother at the monthly staff meetings. Maybe I can get to know her a bit better and then we can become work friends.
"Hey Elizabeth, how's it going?"
"Good, I never get to talk to you, this feels nice" She replies with a big smile on her face. It's very nice that she is so happy. I wish I could feel like that.
"I know we never really see each other at work because we do different things, I though I would come over here to say hi and just let you know that I wished we talked more."
"Yeah, It was nice seeing you again, I think someone is trying to call you over, I can just see it in his eyes."
She said that and as I turned around I didn't even have to look to know who she was talking about. He is kinda obsessed with me, kinda feels good, sometimes I feel like I'm the clingy one in the relationship so this will feel nice to know that maybe it's not just me. I smile and wave away to Elizabeth and then turn around to go walk over to Will to talk to him again because I would like to see what he is thinking now after I left him with a lot he was probably not expecting.
He is now sitting down now and staring at me as I come to sit at the table. I sit down next to him and continue our conversation from earlier like I never left it.
"I caught you off guard there didn't I." Will chuckles lightly and throws his head in his hands.
"I guess you could say that, ok I'm going to ask you another question, Are you really serious?"
"Yes I will go out with you don't worry I tell my truth I'm not that mean."
"Ok good I just don't know who to believe these days."
"Looks like you have some trust issues there."
"Yeah I have had some previous people in my life lie to me a lot and It's not usually some small stuff, one of my ex girlfriends lied about loving me because she wanted to make me feel better but I thought her lying to me was worse she I broke up with her on the spot, I hate being lied to."
"Don't worry I am always truthful about things."
"Ok that is good to hear, anyway I have another question, why did you decide to go out with me? I thought you hated me or something because I feel like every time I try to talk to you, you get very weird with me."
"I don't actually hate you I just before and maybe still am not really looking for a relationship and then you asked me this and I decided to shoot my shot I guess, I mean you are really nice, so I didn't really have a problem with it, just before I did not want to give you false hope because I clearly wasn't looking for something."
After that we chatted up for a while and our food came. I got to learn a lot about Will tonight and I would consider this my first date because I mainly only talked to him. I think that he is very sweet and I'm not going to lie. I'm kinda excited for Friday, this honestly is so exciting and I think that this could go somewhere. As I assumed I had too much wine this entire night and decided it would be the best option if I called an Uber, although I'm still disappointed that now I have to Uber back tomorrow to go get my car again, at least I am capable of making this decision. While I was waiting I looked around to still see Amanda here and I walked over to her.
"I see you were chatting it up with Will tonight, what was that about?"
"I don't know, but now I agreed to go out on a date with him on Sunday so that is interesting."
"I thought you too would be a good match, I'm happy for you, also you have to text me how it goes, I like all the drama."
Our conversation got cut off because the Uber arrived.
"Ok I have to go because the Uber is here, but I will update you on what happens on Sunday."
"Ok girlie, I want to hear all the juice, tell me if you kiss him."
"Ew but ok, have a good night."
"You as well."
And with that I walked out the door and got in the Uber and drove home. I walked into the door of my house and went straight into my pajamas and fell asleep, today was a long day and I need to re-energize.
