'Jonathan get out of the fucking bathroom! I have a flight to catch come on!' Frankie violently banged on the wooden door, urging her step-brother to hurry up. The male only sang along louder with the music he had playing inside.'Ugh! Joyce!' Frankie descended down the steps of the house to find the responsible adult. 'For the love of God, tell your son to move his ass.' Frankie plopped down at the kitchen island, her eyes following the older woman as she ran around the kitchen, preparing breakfast for the family of 5.
'Jonathan, honey, come on! Frankie has a flight to catch!' Joyce also yelled up to her son and seconds later, the door swung open, Jonathan coming out of the bathroom with only a towel wrapped around his waist.
'Gross, man. Tell me you at least have underwear on.' Frankie recoiled in disgust as her step-brother walked past the kitchen while whistling, making his way towards his bedroom.
'Guess we'll never find out.' he said mysteriously, closing the door behind himself.
'Alright honey, run before someone else takes the bathroom.' Joyce urged her oldest girl, who nodded in agreement and ran up the stairs, picking up her towels and change of clothes she had left on the table next to the bathroom door.
Unlike Jonathan, Frankie was going to see her boyfriend for spring break. Just like Mike was coming to California to see El. His excuse was ''wanting to be home when the letter gets here'' .
As if Joyce couldn't give him a call when that happened. Anyway, Frankie didn't push the subject more, not wanting to upset her brother too much.
After she was done with her shower, she quickly changed into her new clothes and threw her pijamas in the hamper. She quickly dried her hair and exited the bathroom, making her way inside her room where her open suitcase was waiting for the last items to be thrown in.
Frankie sat at her vanity and put on her usual dark eye makeup while humming to a song she didn't remember the name of. A few minutes later, Joyce knocked on the open door, telling the girl it was time. Frankie nodded and shoved her makeup bag in her suitcase, having to sit on it to close it.
She looked one last time at her room, letting out a little sigh. This was her new life. A bigger room, much bigger than her older ones in the trailer and the cabin. A closet full of new and nice clothes, perfume bottles scattered on her vanity, along with various nail polish bottles. Her walls were still covered to the brim with posters, and the wall behind her bed was still full of polaroids of her friends, her boyfriend and her family.
With a nod, she exited her room, bumping into Will who took the suitcase out of her hands and carried it down the stairs for her, earning himself a peck on the cheek and a hand ruffling his hair.
Behind them, a new set of footsteps joined, El also coming down the stairs to tell her sister goodbye.
'All right, Jonathan, I still think you're a pussy for not wanting to come, but I will respect that decision.' The oldest teens hugged, Jonathan laughing sarcastically.
