Chris got a call from Hicks requesting her presence at HQ. She was going to text Street that she was coming, but instead, she decided to surprise him.
After her meeting with Hicks in his office, Chris stepped out into the hallway.
"I didn't know you were coming by," Street said when he spotted Chris in the hallway.
Chris turned to see him and flashed him a smile, then she jerked her head so that he would follow her into the empty captain's office. Street closed the door behind them. Then, he wrapped his arms around Chris' waist and made a trail of kisses from the base of her neck to the sensitive spot behind her ear. She let out a light moan.
"Hold on," Chris said with a chuckle.
Street pulled away from her neck to look her in the eyes and said mischievously, "What? I've always wanted to hook up at HQ."
"As fun as that sounds, amor, I wanted to talk to you about something...Hicks called me and asked me to come by, and he just offered me the SWAT captain position."
"Wait, what?"
"He said I can make a big impact on the LAPD as a captain. Make SWAT more equitable and help you guys on ops."
"Is this something you want to do?"
"I....I don't know. I never really saw myself as leadership material, you know?"
"That's crazy! You always lead by example and people respect you! You'd make a great captain!"
"So, you think I should take the job?" Chris asked.
"It's not up to me. I support whatever you decide," Street replied.
"I mean the safe house has been pretty manageable, so I think I could do both...," Chris began.
Street cut her off and asked, "Hang on...what does this mean for us?" Street stroked Chris's arms gently.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean we couldn't date because we worked together, so now if you come back, are we gonna break up? I...I can't lose you," Street said with desperation and shook his head.
Chris cupped his face. "Hey, we're not breaking up! It's not against the rules for us to be together."
"But you'd be my boss."
"No, Hondo is your boss, and I would be Hondo's boss. As long as I'm not your direct superior, we're good," Chris assured him.
"Aren't you worried about what people will think?"
"Hondo told me I can be on SWAT and have a relationship. I would prove myself as the best captain and still be your girlfriend, and if anyone has anything to say about it, I don't care, because you make me happy," Chris said beaming.
Street smiled back and replied, "Well, I meant what I said. I support whatever decision you make." Street leaned in to kiss her, but was interrupted by his buzzing phone. He checked to see what the notification was and announced, "We have a lead. I've gotta roll," Street said breaking away from Chris. Before he turned the handle to exit the office, he turned back around and said, "We'll talk later."
Chris silently nodded and watched him exit the empty office. Chris looked around the space thinking about her future.

Street got back from the op and showered off the sweat and grime. He changed into his civvies and walked out of the locker room. There she was, Chris, in the ring boxing with Rocker. Sweat dripping down her brow. Sexy determination on her face. Chris somehow knocked Rocker onto the ground and pinned him there. Street remembered how he used to box with Chris, but she always won, which meant she always ended up on all fours right above him, and it got to be too much for him to handle, so he refused to box with her anymore.
The onlooking officers cheered for Chris and she looked up and saw Street. She flashed him a big victorious smile, and then climbed off of Rocker and helped him get up from the ground. She exited the ring and took Street's hand. He didn't say anything. He knew where she was taking him.
Chris guided Street back into the empty captain's office.
"Have you made your decision yet?" Street asked.
"I'm the new captain. I start tomorrow," Chris said beaming.
Street hugged her tight and said into her hair, "I'm so so proud of you!"
Chris held him in that tight embrace for a few moments taking in the scent of his soap and the way his muscles felt pressed against her. When they pulled apart, she kissed him wildly until they were both breathless.
Chris took this opportunity to pull off her t shirt. She was wearing a black sports bra and black leggings that hugged her in all the right spots. Street ran a finger lightly along her collarbone and leaned down to kiss her there.
While still panting, Chris said, "Lock the door."
