Chapter 2

  "Living in this big blue world with my head up in outer space, I know I'll be A-O, A-O-K! I know I'll be A-O, A-O-K!"

The radio blasts as I pull up into my apartment complex. I nod to the beat of the song, singing along.

" When I see trouble come my way!!"

I sing, grinning and knowing full well I sound almost as bad as Oli London. Well, I don't know, that's a bit harsh towards myself.

"I be making lemonade! I know I'll be A-O, A-O-K! I know I'll be A-O, A-O-K!"

Turning off the car engine, I hop out with Mimi following behind me. I make sure to lock up the Jeep before walking into the apartment building. After trekking up the staircase all the way to the fourth floor, I unlock my door and walk inside. I let out a long sigh as I set my keys on the kitchen counter.

"Ugh, I need to clean up so bad."

I mumble, taking in the scene around me. Mimi jumps excitedly onto her bed in the corner of the small living area. A laundry basket of clean clothes yet to be folded sits on the couch, and doggy toys are spread out on the rug. The window curtains remain open as the sky turns dark, and the light on the tv shows faintly on the opposite wall. I look over to the kitchen sink to see dishes still in it, and a few more dishes on the counter.

I head to my small room and quickly change into some shorts and an oversized T-shirt. Heading back into the living area, I throw my hair up into a messy bun. After picking a playlist on my phone, I click play and turn it all the way up to max volume.

After cleaning up the apartment, I start dinner and fill up Mimi's water and food bowl. Swaying to the rhythm of the music, I stir the Mac n cheese on the stove.

"Midnight Memories! O,O,OOh!"

My dog watches me as I dance in a silly way, and put the Mac n cheese on my plate beside the chicken nuggets. Picking up the cheese-covered spoon I use like a microphone as I sing the rest of the chorus.

"Baby you and me, stumbling in the street! Singin', singin', singin', singin'!
Midnight memories!"

I break into a fit of laughter at my
own silliness as I notice my dog looking at me like I had a grown an extra head or something.

"You won't ever understand will you girl?"

I chuckle, scratching her head. She wags her tail, closing her eyes as I move my hand down to scratch the behind her ear. A buzz coming from the front door causes Mimi to begin barking as she runs towards the door.

"Hey! Mimi! Hey girl, it's okay. Let's go see who it is, huh?"

I calm her down as I walk to the door.

"Yes? Who is it?"

I call out as I lean against the door straining to hear the person on the other side.

"It's Jimin and Hobi! Let us in! We didn't come to look at your door all day!"

I chuckle as I recognize the voice. Right as I open the door, I am met with Jimin who's hands are full from carrying take out Panda Express. Hoseok struts in first holding a liter of sprite.

"What are you guys doing here?"

I ask, still staring at them in surprise. Jimin shrugs his shoulders as he places the food on my counter.

"Figured we should hang out. We've all been busy lately and we need to spend some time together."

Jimin said, already pulling the food out of the takeout bags. Hoseok nods,

"Right, and I thought we could watch a movie while we're at it."

He walks over to my tv, pulling up peacock and immediately choosing The Office.

"Hey! Wait a minute, you just said a movie, not a series!"

I point out, rushing over to him. He simply shrugs, plopping himself down on the couch as Jimin comes over with our food.

"Eh, close enough."

I look at him and Jimin in unbelief before breaking into a grin as I sit down between the two men.

"You know, I made Mac n cheese and chicken nuggies."

I mumble into my fried rice.

"Really? Don't worry, I'll eat it."

Jimin says, getting up to grab the plate, leaving me smiling at my friend's silliness.
