One of Mikayla's best friends, Alex, was currently propped up on Mikayla's bed, flicking through a fashion magazine while droning on about some kid that had been teasing her little brother.

"I mean, his name is literally Stiles, I don't think he is in any position to be making fun of other kids!"

"Maybe Stiles is a nickname?" Mikayla shrugged, barely paying attention to her friend's mindless dribble.

"Whatever, it's still stupid! Anyway, are you coming to Crystal's surprise party tonight?"

"I don't know, parties aren't really my thing.."

"Come on! Bethany is throwing it for her and she's a Martin, do you know what that means? Martins always throw the best parties, Mikayla, you simply have to go! No ifs, buts or maybes!"

"Alex-"

"Nope, you're coming. Maybe Derek will even be your date!" Alex winked, and at this, Mikayla almost choked.

"What?"

"You two clearly like each other, you're constantly flirting and you've been spending heaps of time together. Callie swears she saw you two kiss behind the bleachers!" This time, Mikayla actually choked.

"No-no, definitely not. Never kissed, not once, not ever. Not a thing, most definitely not a thing." Mikayla spluttered, hopelessly trying to regain her composure.

"You're even blushing! It's so true!" Alex gushed, sitting up and clapping her hands together. "Ugh, I have to go to school now, you coming?"

"Um, no, not today. I have training again, sorry Lex, I'll see you after school, okay?" Mikayla lied, not moving as Alex stood up. No, she wasn't planning on going to school, but she knew there was no training today. Today she was to be finishing the chemistry assignment with Derek and then they were to get to the bottom of the whole 'gym incident'.

"Sure, Kay. Good luck at training!" Alex called, descending the stairs and disappearing from Mikayla's view and almost on cue, Mrs Griffin walked in.

"Hey, sweetheart. How are you feeling, ready to go back today? Gerald decided to give you a break today, but I understand if you're still freaked out and not ready to go back to school just yet." Mrs Griffin soothed, softly smiling at her daughter who was sprawled out on the floor.

"I'm not ready to go back today, I can barely stop thinking about those awful glowing eyes, but tomorrow I think I'll try." Mikayla replied, frowning as though she was disappointed with herself.

"Of course, honey. Your father and I have another sale in New Mexico, do you think you'll be alright here by yourself for two days?"

"Sure, I'll be fine and I'll call you if anything happens. The Argents are just around the corner if I need help anyway. You guys go have fun." Mikayla smiled, nodding at her mum as she sat up.

"We will, I think we are heading off now so I'll see you on Thursday. Stay safe, we love you and don't do anything Chris wouldn't do!" Mrs Griffin said, leaving Mikayla's room.

"What about Kate?"

"Don't do anything Kate would."

"Got it." Mikayla grinned, pulling Derek and her project from under her bed. They had separately completed the notes and just had to film it all then they were finished. After that, Derek wanted to work on the supernatural and while Mikayla was still a little iffy about Derek, she had to admit, they made a pretty good team and since he had trusted her, she didn't feel as though she was in the position to tell him to leave her alone. No matter how badly she wanted to.
