"Alyssa! Get yourself here right now!" cried Sydney.
Okay, so I will start by introducing myself, my name is Alyssa, I am seventeen, with sleek black hair. My sister, Sydney, and I are basically orphans, and we don't have a house because well, we don't have much money. Although we can survive because when my father was alive, he taught both my sister and I how to survive in the forest. And our temporary house consists of palm leaves interlacing and scraps of wood. Not the best skills, but yeah, it was something.
"Alyssa? Alyssa! The report is starting!" called Sydney.
I ran towards the town square, which was packed with people old and young, large and small, thin and fat, I think the idea is clear: a large variety with lots of people. The castes are supposed to be fully extinct by now, but there is still a large chasm between the wealthy and poor. While the statuses are supposed to be gone, some traditions are still alive such as the Selection.
Last time, it was King Maxon's Selection, and this time, it is his daughter, Princess Eadlyn Schreave's turn. She seemed uneasy by the fact that this time it is her turn, but she hid the expression well. Reading expressions was the first way of survival.
The royal family seemed quite perfect to me. King Maxon always remembers to take heed to the citizen's thoughts also. Queen America was simply beautiful. With blazing red hair, it looked like her head was on fire. There were some rumors saying that during their Selection, King Maxon learned about the world outside the walls of the palace because of her. Prince Ahren was well, handsome. When I was young, I've always imagined of being his wife but now, I know better.
"I wonder who would win he selection this time..." I said aloud.
"Yeah, I also wonder. But how do you think Prince Ahren would find a wife?"
Sydney never heard my answer.
