Chapter 15- Sydney, then Ahren

For some reason, Ahren didn't come to the great room today. He also didn't come the day before. It was abnormal. Camille also.

I was standing by the door when Gavril came in to say something to the Royal family. Then Eadlyn came running by and the King and Queen followed.

While King Maxon and Queen America walked just out the door, I watched, very curious about what was happening. Then my eyes darted back to the Selected. The chattering became a little louder each second.

However, just after a few steps, America fell. I didn't hear anything, since I hardly took a step. but the King looked up, saw me and mouthed: Heart Attack. I ran over and saw that he was tearing up. I tried my best to calm him, to say that everything was going to be alright, but I knew that this all was a lie. Of course things wouldn't be alright. Even though I was the one trying to calm him, he said:

"I'm so sorry *sniff* Alyssa *more tears* about Ahren."

By that time, some guards were already alerted, and we were running to the hospital wing. Very undignified, eh?

"Your Majesty, really it's fine. He was already very distant the past few days."

Sprinting in heels? In the palace where the marble floors were slippery? Bad idea. Don't try it. But I managed just fine. With credits to the amazing heels. The Queen was just put into a bed when General Leger came over to the King.

"We'll see where this leads, but in the meantime, please stay calm."

"How am I supposed to stay calm when my wife might just die! I'm so sorry it's just, I just, I just...

Aunt May arrived after my mother, who arrived after Kaden, but where is Ahren? I just want to know where Ahren and Camille are. Is the too much too ask for? Just when I was about to run out screaming, Eadlyn came in looking extremely worried, well why wouldn't she? Everything started blurring together after Eadlyn came in, so I don't remember much. Only the fact that I walked down the halls very silently, past the suitors, and to the fourth floor. I turned and there I was, in front of Camille's room.

When I came to my senses, I peeked into her room. Her bags were still there. Everything. Then I looked on the bed there was a letter that were addressed to me:

Dear Alyssa,

Did you ever meet someone you could look puppy eyes at? Someone you wished you want to be forever but you can't? Not yet? That's is what I was with Camille before I met you. You, Alyssa, is a wonderful young lady. I'm sure you can someday get yourself out of the pit you are hiding in. You are much more that being just beautiful, or amazing, or wonderful. You deserve only the best man. The most faithful and loyal and humble. And that is why I don't deserve you. I know this would hurt a lot, and you can punch me, but I used you to distract me from my love with Camille. It was too hard being away from her for such a long time. You two basically looked like twins it was so easy for me to fall in love with you at that time, it was so hard leaving you behind. The only thing that motivated me was that I knew I had a beautiful future in front of me with Camille, and I hope you would find your own love sooner or later.

I don't think I can even start to imagine what you are going through right now. I am truly sorry to say this Alyssa, I know you would never forgive me, but I don't love you. I love Camille. I hope you'll understand why I did this.

There was several teardrops on the letter after I finished reading it. I was more that heart broken. I thought he loved me the way I loved him. The whole time I was just a pawn. Just another pawn of the Royal family's. I should have listened to the others. They all said the royal family were just using all of us as a pawn. I was about to storm outside when I noticed there was more to the letter.
