you hide from me
as i hide from you
truth be told
from neither
why do we keep
firmly in place
these mute masks
we've forged?
look
i've broken mine
revealing to you
what is beneath
see and feel
the maggot lines
etched on my face
wriggling sores
festering ooze
of unvarnished me
why
do you scream
and turn away
from the real me
why do you insist
i be your lie
why won't you
show to me
your ugly truth?
here
let me tear
your mask away
and...
oh my god
why is this
transparent?
you're still the same...
Please stay
don't leave me here
lost in my decay
