new beginnings

55 8 2

We meet at new beginnings
After the end of ends
Before the break of dawn
Facing a new set of crossroads in our lives

Rejoice for the sun has risen!
and we have lived to see another day
Darkness has broken
and our hardships—overcome

So let us worry not, my friends
Let us turn our heads from the past
--Stride forwards
Marching with scars adorning our skin like medals
and eyes sparkling for what lies ahead

Be brave, my heart
Have courage, my soul

For even if this is the end of the odyssey
we've shared
and at these crossroads
we shall split our ways
--our arms—linked—
shall not grow weary
nor grow old
--'till we meet again

So here we are
On this page
In this stanza
A line after this—
On this very word
I welcome you
as we meet again

Old friends,
New friends,
we meet at new beginnings

And new beginnings we shall meet, forevermore

AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Like this poem, for me this symbolises not only my new beginning as a poet, but a new beginning for those of us who wish to start anew. Midnight Reveries is a little collection of mine for me to escape reality sometimes. I find solace in writing these poems and sincerely, I hope whoever is out there and reading any of my poems does so too. So welcome this new beginning and I hope you enjoy!

Important Note: Just a heads up that many of the poems in this collection have varying writing styles as I try to experiment with writing poetry. The themes may also be pretty random and can range from tales of fantasy (quite literally fairies and heroes) to confessions of heartbreak. Nevertheless, feedback or even voting would mean a lot to me. I'd love to hear what you have to say! :)
