a peculiar blond stood outside of his high school's sophomore wing's history class, waiting patiently against a row of bright orange lockers as he scrolled through his own instagram. constantly responding to a bright array of messages from levi, who kept pestering xem about how he had gotten out of class so early, and where he should meet him and light for their study break.

the explanation for how he had gotten out of class so early was favorable - his seventh-hour class was band, which had xem in front of a row of the loudest trombones in the world. it was always a betting game within the class to see how long they could last before the teacher let them out early, in favor of swallowing down a tylenol. yet, the freedom that normally felt like an upbringing, had a negative effect as the blond kept self-consciously checking xyr phone timer.

finally, the bell rang from overhead, and the blond stood out of the way of the now open door as sophomores started to pour out of the confinements, balancing notes in their hands as friends and lovers discussed their upcoming unit three test.

eventually, a familiar brunet brought up the back of the crowd of students. his backpack awkwardly thrown over one shoulder, and a pair of reading glasses pushed up against their nose. a thick, torn-apart textbook lain within his arms.

"sora!" they exclaimed, their face lighting up at the sight of the blond, who voluntarily took the textbook from the boy as they both headed toward the front of the school building. "dude, i thought you were just kidding when you offered to study with me."

sora drew out a mock sigh, removing a hand from xyr textbook to dramatically gesture towards his heart. "i take offense to that, do you not trust me? shaking my head, i guess you're not a true one."

the boy didn't take his comment to heart. instead, the brunet ran a couple of steps ahead and turned around, squinting as they examined what his virtual friend looked like in real life. sora, who had actually seen him wandering around the hallways before (sora was also 50% sure they were in the same english class last year---although he doesn't remember a 'light') would be lying if he said that light--the brunet--wasn't as attractive as one of their other shared friends.

sora had bit his lip the last time that levi or charli had mentioned that everyone whom jaxx had contacted must have been a model---mostly because he didn't want to tell them that jaxx had done something right---but with the brunet standing in front of him, it was hard to properly deny the statement.

light tilted his head to the side, their long, dark brown hair falling in front of his face as they squinted his auburn eyes. they were the least caucasian out of the friend group so far, with a pretty brown tint to his short and skinny frame. they seemed to, coincidentally, also be the shortest of the group. although that might just be because they were the youngest.

"you owe me big time though," sora responded. light offered him a sheepish grin. it came as no surprise to sora that light knew what xe was talking about. he was positive that the large, now-turning-purple bags underneath xyr eyes were self-explanatory. in fact, he assumes that his pale skin and lifeless expression were what got xem out of lunch detention when xyr teacher caught him sleeping in the second hour.

"i'll buy you whatever you want from that restaurant we're going to," light offered sheepishly, holding their hands in the air in an attempt at mercy. sora grumbled at his response.

"you also have to pay for me and levi's hair dye for this weekend," sora countered. honestly, he had to learn the hard way that the stuff at the restaurant is not cheap by any means, so xe would have been happy with just the free loan for some food, but xe also knows that hair dye is hella expensive. there's no way he's spending thirty dollars on two containers. "it's non-negotiable."
