"Strawberry Ice Cream"

KC looked at Noi in utter shock. "W-what do you mean?" she yelled, racing to his side. He showed her the test, and it indeed was positive. KC could feel tears breaking through her eyes as Noi hugged her.

"Did you not know?" he asked, saddened. KC shook her head.

"No," she sniffed, rubbing her eyes. Noi wiped tears from her face.

"Why aren't you happy?" Noi asked, confused. He held her shoulders and bit his lip, wondering if it was too soon.

"I am, kind of," KC muttered, looking down. "But Zane doesn't want kids."

Noi put his head down, to look back at KC. "But he wants you," he reassured her. "And if you decide to keep it, he'll learn to like it, ok?" Noi laughed. KC laughed, rubbing her eyes further to the point of redness. "He wouldn't leave you over it, ok?"

KC nodded, hugging Noi again. "Thank you."

Zane sighed as he unlocked the door to the apartment. He opened it, putting his keys in his briefcase and hanging it on the hook in the entryway.

"Kawaii-Chan! I'm home!" he yelled, not to hear a response. 'Ugh' he thought. He was supposed to cook dinner tonight, but he got held back at work. He had worked 3 extra hours, and now it was almost 9:00. He took off his coat. It was a cold day in March. He messed with the thermostat, then walked to his and KC's room. He found her in bed.

"Hi," she muttered, looking at him. He walked past her to the closet, and changed into his comfy clothes. He could hear her sniffing. He walked back and saw what she was wearing. A grey t-shirt and short shorts. He recognized this as her 'period pajamas'. It was her comfiest clothes, and she saved them for that time of the month.

He understood her crying right away. She always got super emotional at this time, and him not coming home might have have worried her. She stood up and hugged him. Her ears brushed against Zane's neck and he hugged back. 

"Do you want some ice cream?" he asked, knowing KC's comfort food. KC nodded, hopping back in bed and cuddling up to the covers. Zane chuckled as he walked to the kitchen. He grabbed the  ice cream from the freezer and closed the door. As he grabbed KC a spoon, he saw her phone on the counter.

He could see Noi's texts on her lock screen.

Noi

Have you told Zane yet? Trust me, it'll be fine, I know it.

Zane was puzzled by the message, but his brain hurt enough without a 20 questions with a stubborn KC, so he ignored I and went to give KC her strawberry ice cream.

"Thanks," she said, taking it from him. Zane sat down next to her, kissing her forehead. She a smiled.

"How was your day?" Zane asked, to get a deep frown in reply. "Bad?"

"A grumpy lady was rude to me," she said, laughing. "But other than that, ok I guess."

"You guess?"

KC shrugged, spooning her ice cream into her mouth. Zane put his arm around her.

"Want to watch that reality show you like?" he asked, trying to be gentle with her. KC smiled and kissed him.

"In a second," she breathed, setting her ice cream aside. Zane put his hands on KC's waist and kissed back, surprised at her sudden kiss. He was pleased, though, because this was a stress reliever, exactly what he needed now. She knocked him down, and there they were, kissing on the bed.

"Did you tell him?" Noi asked at the bakery on Friday. He asked her this every day. There were no customers, they just had their breakfast rush.

"No," KC sighed. "I couldn't work myself up to." Noi sighed.

"If you don't tell him, I will!" he smiled. He meant it as a joke, but KC panicked.

"Please don't! If he finds out the wrong way he'll be mad I didn't.."

"Chill KC!" Noi laughed, grabbing her hands. "I was joking!" Just then, Ein and Pierce walked in.

Ein was holding Pierce's hand as they walked up to the counter. "Hi Ein, Pierce," Noi greeted the Werewolf and Daemos.

Ein lead a shy Pierce to the counter. "We're here to pick up Pierce's birthday cake?" he said, smiling at KC.

"Oh yes!" KC cheered, skipping to the kitchen. She quickly boxed the blue cake that said "Happy Birthday Pierce!" into a cardboard box with the bakery name on it, "Kawaii Cakes and Cookies".

She rushed to the counter, placing the cake. Pierce blushed.

"Ein, you didn't have to," he started, but Ein interrupted.

"Yes I did."

"That's $20," KC said. She had given them a discount, since they were friends. Ein smiled, giving her his card. She swiped the card and handed it back.

"You guys are coming for the party, right?" Ein asked, picking up the boxed cake. KC nodded. Pierce's birthday party was tomorrow, Saturday.

"Of course!" Noi cheered. "Should we bring anything?" 

Ein shook his head. "You guys already made the cake! Besides, we have the adult drinks covered," he winked.

KC smiled, hiding her panic. People would notice if she didn't drink at all.
