It was a bright day, clouds fluffy scattered around in the sky, yet never covering the the shine of the sun- Letting it cover everything it could, in it's overwhelming and powerful raze.
Ink listened to this, in his small apartment, as he got dressed. He wore nothing fancy, just a cream button up with dark brown pinstripe pants, and lastly his ink covered scarf that he had been able to keep and had for years. Ink found it cute, having such fruitless things like an apartment and TV, it made Ink feel normal like all the people around.
But that was besides the point, at least at the moment, because Ink had to get going, he had things to do. Leaving his tiny room Ink went ahead and turned off his TV before going to eat breakfast. It was nothing special, pretty much what everyone else ate. Cute, fluffy, little vanilla cakes with white cream frosting- and this odd yet savory gold powder on top. Ink didn't know what it was but for some reason it made everything taste better, nicer then it did before, even making him feel somewhat happy? Somewhat calm? One could say.
Other then that though Ink didn't have much else in the morning, only his vials, one yellow, one orange, and one pink. Ink had no need anymore for the other feelings, them just clouding his judgement. Dream helped him understand that, and he was so glad that he had. His other vials were- somewhere, but it didn't matter where they were now that Ink really thought about it... Dream probably had them, but that was for the better. Now he was happy, happy all the time, like everyone else, happy.
Going up to his door, Ink looked at it. The dark wood door, that had seven gold words carved into it.
'It's always a good day'
Those words had became more then true as time went on- Ink couldn't imagine a world where there wasn't happiness, or where there was anything else but that joy. After that Ink swung open the door and skipped out of the room, walked down the hall, then the steps to the exit of the building.
Outside it was bright and bustling with activity, people going out with their friends or family, always to go have fun somewhere else. It was so pleasing to see, the happy families with small children. Ink was always indifferent about children, but Dream helped him see that he didn't need them, he was much to busy with all of the things he had to do. But he was still happy- of course. He could never not be now.
Walking down the street just a little more, Ink arrived at his destination. A large building, gold in color and shining almost like it was in fact real gold. Like everything else it was bright, intact, perfectly formed and put together. Ink remember the day he had made it- With little to no help but he enjoyed doing it, and loved the result of all his hard work. He went insides and greeted anyone he came across as he stepped onto the elevator.
He hadn't ever had to use an elevator before to get anywhere, he used to be able to...to...to do something! Yeah but he doesn't have to anymore, he can act normal, he wants to, like Dream said he should... Dream...
Just thinking about Dream made Ink giddy, well it did everyone when they did. Dream was such a good person, he was nothing but good- So happy and cheerful, he'd help anyone that asked.
Ink could remember one day in particular actually, when he saw Dream come into his apartment complex to help someone.
It was moderately calm but then there were all these footsteps that appeared, all at once, going up the stairs then down Ink's hallway. Ink felt his curiosity take a hold of him, as he slowly slipped out of his room to take a look at the commotion outside. Dream was there, along with a few others that had their faces covered, as they funneled into a room that was a few doors down. Ink squealed happily, and ran over to Dream.
Though it was brief, Ink still enjoyed his talk with Dream, it ending with him apparently telling Ink what was going on. 'There's just a small issue with the room over here, don't worry it's being fixed!'. Ink believed him, as he always did, and yet...for some reason the apartment room still remains empty even now....
Ink noted that he should maybe ask Dream about that, and continued on to go see Dream.
At the top floor, the doors opened and revealed a long hall that shimmered with all the gold accents that lined it. With a hum Ink skipped down the hall to the office doors at the end. Swinging those open Ink walked in. As Ink did he could see Dream standing at the big window behind his desk, looking down at everything and everyone that was beneath him outside it.
"Dream!"
Slowly Dream turned around, a warm yet also stern smile on his face.
"Ink, what are you up to? Don't you have to get going to work-"
"Yes! But I wanted to come see you, and see if I need to make anything else!"
"Well I'm glad to see you, but there isn't- Unless maybe..."
A serious look appeared on Dream's face, as he began to ponder something that Ink didn't know. But even with not knowing what task Dream might need him for, Ink still happily declared that he'd do it.
"Anything you need, I can do it! Alright?"
Dream looked at Ink, and slowly began to smile again.
"Want to take a break from making clothes and furniture?"
"Sure!"
"Hm, alright, come on"
Stepping out from behind his desk, Dream motioned Ink over and started to walk with him. Going over to a small door on the side of the room, Dream opened it to reveal a staircase that spiraled down along the sides of the cylinderical walls. Ink followed and gasped when he saw what laid in the middle of the room.
A large machine was in the middle of the room, it composed of a few metallic gold rings most finished while other ones not so much. In the center was this glass like ball that almost shimmered like a gem stone in the sun light that came in from the glass window above.
"What...is-"
"It's a solution"
"What to?"
"A problem I've been trying to solve for a long time..."
The look Dream had after saying that was grave yet also somber in someway that Ink couldn't place. But before he had a chance to ask about it, Dream began to speak again.
"Do you want to know what it's for?"
"Oh- Um yes p-please"
"So you're interested? Helping that is-"
"I mean seems interesting, but you didn't-"
"Then tomorrow you'll start working, there are blueprints on the bottom level for you to follow."
"Oh ok then!"
"Good, now back up here for now"
Ink followed Dream back up the stairs without a second thought, being led back through the office as the door was shut behind him.
"Now you have a big order ok? Let's keep people happy-"
"If they didn't have these things, I bet they'd still be happy! We don't need-"
"Oh Ink...how...how clueless you are..."
Wanting to ask what that meant, Ink opened his mouth to speak when Dream put a hand up and shook his head.
"Go be on your way, come back here tomorrow."
"Okay Dream!"
Waltzing on out of Dream's office happily, Ink skipped off to his work space, a big room where Dream gave him strands of gold magic to turn into the gold powder that'd he use to make other things or put in others like cloths, toys, food, really anything.
Just then a strand of gold magic twirled down to Ink, and with that his job began. He twirled it around his hand and with a brush he began to turn it into dust. Once changed it float back up as little sparkly things so Dream could do whatever he did with them.
With hum Ink continued what he was doing, as he also made the meaningless goods that seemed to keep people happy. It was only then though that Ink realized that he had forgotten to ask Dream about his old neighbor, about the other stuff to, the machine... But that wasn't a big deal- Not anymore at least. Because now Ink was to rest, for once. It's funny how that worked, how everything even the stuff Ink had forgotten just seemed to 'Click~'.
