[Konohagakure Hospital - Third Floor - Room 305 - Hinata Hyuga's Room]
Hinata looked at the window - there was nothing going on out there, but it was better than looking at the other side of her and passing out again. At her left, Naruto Uzumaki was sitting on a chair with his blue eyes trained on the orange he was peeling before he split the orange into wedges, placing the fruit on a plate with other wedged oranges - 3 in total - before he looked at Hinata's face with a smile.
"Oranges, Hinata-hime?" Naruto asked in a purr, making Hinata's face slightly glow a crimson red.
"Um... Th-Thank you, N-N-Naruto-kun. You can leave them there." Hinata gestured her head in the direction of the nightstand but Naruto just chuckled and shook his head before standing and placing his hand on Hinata's right cheek, turning her head to face him and caressing it.
"You know that the doctor told you to relax your body, Hime, that includes your arms. Let me feed you." Naruto removed his hand from her cheek and picked up one of the orange wedges, holding it to her lips, lightly brushing the fruit against them. "Open up, Hinata-hime."
Hinata looked wide-eyed and red-faced at Naruto's words that her jaw dropped and Naruto took the chance to slide the fruit through her lips and into her mouth, instinctively making Hinata chew on the juicy orange fruit before swallowing it; Naruto rubbed her bottom lip with his thumb before getting another wedge of fruit to repeat the sequence until the entire plate was empty. Naruto smiled at Hinata before placing the plate back on the nightstand, looking at her red face with a tender loving look.
"Got a fever, Hinata-hime?" Naruto asked, making Hinata look away from him with her face getting redder.
"No! N-No, Naruto-kun. I'm fine." Hinata stuttered out.
"Then, why are you hiding your lovely face away from me?" Naruto whispered in her ear, making her jump and cover her ear as she looked back at his smiling face but couldn't find the words to say. Naruto was going to speak again when the door opened - he growled - and turned to look at the person who dared to ruin his moment with his princess. It was the doctor.
"Can we help you, Doctor?" Naruto growled out at the woman.
"I'm just here to take Hinata-sama for her therapy." The woman said as she wheeled in a wheelchair and brought it over to the edge of the bed, she reached to remove Hinata's blanket but Naruto stopped her.
"I'll do it." He said as he removed the blanket and gathered Hinata in his arms princess-style, much to Hinata's protests and stuttering, and placed her in the chair before taking the handles of the chair in his hands; he looked at the doctor, silently telling her to lead the way. The doctor got the message and began walking out of the room and down the hall, Naruto wheeling Hinata in the same direction.
"Calm down, boy, you're going to scare your mate with the way you are acting." The Kyuubi said from the depths of Naruto's mind.
'I don't trust anyone around my hime, Fox.' Naruto growled at the fox, who just chuckled at this.
"I'm well aware of that, kit, I wouldn't trust anyone around her either; not even those who call themselves her friends and family." The nine-tails growled.
'What do you mean you don't trust her friends or family?' Naruto asked the fox.
"They are using her, her kindness and compassion towards those she holds in high regards, like her family and friends; they aren't worthy of her kindness and they don't need to be around her while she is healing. All she needs is us, Naruto. We can protect her better than any of them can." The Fox growled out with a purr at the end.
'Why do you want to protect her so badly, Fox? What does she mean to you?' Naruto asked.
"Just like you, I have been alone for a long time, Kit. She is both of our chances at a happier life and I don't want anyone or anything taking her away from us. She is the princess and we are the knight that shall protect her." Kyuubi said with a growl at the end.
'The Knight that protects the Princess? I like the sound of that.' Naruto smirked.
"Good. We need her, Naruto. She needs to make sure she knows how much you love her. First - keep her safe as she heals. Then - we hunt down the bastard that reduced her to this state. Lastly - we keep her with us and everyone else away from her." Kyuubi said.
'Agreed. Now, it's time for her therapy. Talk to you later, Fox.' Naruto pulled away from the connection with the fox as the creature began falling asleep in Naruto's mind.
