It was 11:53 when my girl best friend barged into my apartment, shouting her greetings. "Danelle, stop shouting its to early for this." I said, putting my blanket over head and plopping my face in my pillow groaning.
"Good morning sugar plum, time to wake up. We are going to a party so we need to get you an outfit." Dani said, ripping the blanket off my body.
"I'm not going." I state, pulling the blanket back onto my body. She smirks, I know that's not a good sign. "Spill it Henderson."
"Well, the party is hosted by Noah, so if you don't want to go I'll just call me and tell him that you don't want to come even after he begged you to come. He'll be so disappointed." She knows I have a soft spot for him, why did she have to do that?
She begins to pull out the phone, typing something then turn it to face me. Noah's number had be dialed and she hovered she finger over the call button. She wont do it. She wouldn't right. I gesture her to keep going, keeping eye contact with her, challenging her to do it.
She does it.
Shit. Shit. Shit. She did it.
The phone rings a few times before he picks up. I was mentally praying that he doesn't answer the phone, but he did. All the forces of the world are against me, over a damn party.
"Hey Dani." His deep voice sends chills down my spine. Dani smiles at me before speaking. "So, CJ over here says she not coming to the party. I thought I would just call you and tell you, just to avoid disappointment later tonight." She explains.
"Can you please put her on the phone?" he asks. She passes me the phone, I take it off speaker phone and put it against me ear.
"Hello."
"Sweetheart, Dani says you're not coming tonight, is that true?" he asks.
"Yeah, I'm not." I stand up and leave the room, leaving my best friend alone in my room.
"Why not?" he questions.
"You know why, I don't like big crowds of people. My anxiety wont allow me to go." I say quickly, trying to get off this call as soon as possible.
"What if I promise to stay by your side the entire party, just be there for two hours and leave again." I feel backed into a corner.
"I don't have an outfit." He chuckles, the sound is low and makes my face heat up. "I believe Dani will take you shopping for one. She told Ashton that she would go, so you can just go with her. Anyway, you would look great in anything you wear." Its all been planned, I cant back out of this one, in that moment I see only one loophole, but we are not ready to jump through there yet.
"Fine, I'll go. My only condition is that I'm leaving after 2 hours, and if I cant take the pressure I'm leaving."
"Go buy a pretty outfit then CJ. See you later." he says just before hanging up. I turn and see Dani smiling in victory.
"You had this all planned out didn't you?"
"That's a secret, get dressed lets go."

I drove to the mall because Dani drives like I have extra lives. We hoop out of the car, the car that was a gift from my mom, along with the apartment. I did try to tell her that I can live on campus and take the subway, but as a mother knowing my life story, I understand why she didn't take no for an answer.
We walk around the mall, making small talk. Just talking about our week. Dani talking about her boyfriend and the amazing sex they had this week. I don't know how but the conversation steers my way.
