"Welcome to the Sagedrop Cafe, what can I get for you today?"

Two months, one week and four days. That's how long it had been since those exact words had sparked the day of the attack. And after all that time, you were still working the same job, waiting on the same customers to finish ordering the same things (although it would still take them hours just to look at the menu).

Still, not everything was the same.

You now lived alone, as your old roommate had a mysterious change of living plans after the whole avengers-breaking-into-your-house thing. Your school had finished up for the summer, leaving you with nothing but time to process what was going on with your life. The cafe had also installed a new tv, displaying the morning news and throwing a message throughout the restaurant;

"One of our biggest stories this week: after all speculations were proven to be true, Loki Laufeyson, the former attacker of New York City and brother of Thor, had officially been announced as part of the one and only Avengers. One of the world's most feared villains has somehow turned to one of it's mightiest heroes."

You let the rest of the message roll on behind you as you turned back to serving. One more thing had changed - the cafe had a new regular.

"You're famous, stranger!" You said smugly, leaning over the counter.

Loki scoffed. "And how lovely that is." He had pretty much given up on trying to shield himself in public, which drew a lot of strange staring from the other customers. You were surprised Veronica even let him back into the shop.

You leaned further, planting a light kiss right above his nose bridge. "Cheer up," you warned, "you're a hero now."

"And I don't get to see you at all anymore." He frowned dramatically.

"Don't be like that," you scolded, "Thor was right. Everything did work out."

"There are some people who wouldn't say the same." Loki brought back a saying from the past.

"Well I'm not one of them," you played along, retreating behind the counter. "Now, let me get you your coffee."

Loki sighed, nestling himself into his usual seat in the back of the cafe. He angled himself to look behind the bar this time. This was the only ending you could imagine where everybody, yourself included, really was happy.

To you, there was nothing better than that. Your little enemies-to-lovers ark.

The god and his beloved barista.
