[Y/LN] = Your last name

Will POV

"I beg your pardon? You can't call her a whore!", Will growled and was about to grab the caretaker by his lapel.

"Well what else would you call her? She's brought our decent village into disrepute. But hey... she got punished pretty badly afterwards. Was then probably compensating justice..."

Will was losing his patience, but he knew if he was going to get anything out of him, he had to stay calm. So he stayed with the man until he locked the community hall.
"Come on, I'll walk you home.", Will offered and gave the man a light pat on the shoulder.

The caretaker, his name was George Borrows, grinned and shook his head slightly.
"I am an old man. The guy definitely doesn't want me."
But he didn't turn Will away either.

Now Will was torn between questioning Mr. Borrows further about [Y/N] or responding to his remark? For now, he opted for the second.
"You think it was a man?"

Borrows looked up at Will in irritation and pushed his newsboy cap slightly back from his forehead.
"Well, I just can't imagine that a woman should have done something like that. Mostly, why? And who? When I think about the women of this village, yes, there are some dragons that remind me again how lucky I am to be alone. But no, none of them would behead a dog. Only a completely sick person does that..."

Will nodded slowly. "You might be right about that..."

They walked a few steps. It was now way after two in the morning, and nothing was heard. Even the chirping of the crickets had slowly died down.

"I'm new here and I want to know everything about my fold. What happened back then?"

Borrows gave Will a sideways glance before he sighed.
"Actually, you don't need to pay any attention to Miss [Y/LN]. Since then, she has entered the church only once. Shortly after the incident. But Reverend Jones and the others made it abundantly clear  to her that she was no longer wanted there.
Kind of a pity. She used to be an integral part of the parish and the church."

"What do you mean?" Will had had a guess. [Y/N] had previously given several hints - presumably unconsciously - that suggested she wasn't averse to the Church at all at the time. For example, that she hasn't heard a grace "for a long time" or said it herself...

"Oh, well. Miss [Y/LN] comes from a very respectable family here in Wye. They were a true institution. Active for church and village in the umpteenth generation.
Unfortunately, Mr. and Mrs. [Y/LN] were not able to have more children. So [Y/N] was their only daughter.
They went to church every Sunday, volunteered at many activities and fairs. Miss [Y/LN] was a member of the Scouts from a young age, a soprano in the church choir. Everyone loved the family. Her parents – the father was on the municipal council and the mother ran the housewives' club in Wye and volunteered at school and kindergarten."

"Wow..." was all Will could say. He really hadn't expected anything like this. "But..."

"You wonder how it all went down the drain then, huh? I'll tell you why – the university!" the caretaker growled, his hands disappearing into his pockets.
