'She looks just like an angel
When she walks across the room
She shines tonight her golden light
Is everything I need

Lovers all around her
She wears them like her jewels
My friend said she's all he needs
To feel alive

Love songs on the radio
Your sweetheart lies in bed
She's dreaming of the things he said
She's hoping that it's meant'

For a decision that seemed as easy as this, Hera's confusion was born entirely of self-doubt — clouding her mind with the inconsequential.

In an instant, she was brought back to that argument with Ange, though it felt like a lifetime ago (and in many ways, it was) the sentiment rang truer now than ever before.

It didn't matter that sooner or later, Harry would come of age — she'd be looking after him way past that point until she no longer had anything left to give.
Maybe Ange had been right in the belief that few boys would want the baggage that came from being with someone who was already a guardian at this age, but it was just Hera's luck that she'd found a man instead.

What dreams she'd once entertained had been left in the cupboard under the stairs, as forlorn and forgotten as the miniature chess pieces Harry would play with in the dark.
Any decisions she made for the long-term would be done with her brother in mind, for she considered herself lucky to have anything more at this rate.

In Hera voicing a few of these concerns, she elicited Sirius' reaction with a strong shake of his head.
"Stubborn girl, " he said, though not unkindly,
"All this time you could've had help with Harry — a family of your own. Any man would be lucky to have you, I know I am. "

So, Sirius might have her at the best years of her life, what did she care? The love that he'd shown her, and her brother made up for all that he'd missed out on while wasting away in Azkaban.

Though they did all they could to reassure Harry that he was not alone, the Dursley's effect lingered on in small ways — how he carried himself, primarily, for his confidence would've never plummeted to such a level with Sirius as his guardian from the start.
As for the future, there was the promise that any children the couple might one day have or know, wouldn't ever feel the neglect they both had throughout their lives...
