Nick and Charlie

3: Phone Call

"So, did you do rugby in high school?" Noah asked. His hair gelled again and with a less tight t-shirt.

Nick nodded. "Yeah, I was named the rugby king."

"Ohh, so a pro?" Noah laughed and put his arm around Nick.

"Well, not exactly."

Noah chuckled as he was showing Nick the classrooms and where everything is. "Come on, don't be modest. I'm pretty sure you're good." They went through the door out into the sun. "And this is the rugby field."

Nick looked around. It's so big. Twice as big as they had in Truham. "It's so big." Noah chuckled and walked with Nick, more like dragged him to miss Rey, who was in charge of any try-outs at the start of the year. "Miss, this is Nicholas Nelson. He wants to try out for the last rugby spot."

Miss Rey turned around and took a good look at Nick. "You look too sweet to push people around." She turned back at her screen and continued to watch 'desperate housewives.'

"He played rugby in high school and apparently he was really good." Noah said. Nick smiled. He didn't really like Noah because he gave too much of a jock vibe, but he might become friends with him.

Miss Rey sighed and turned around. "Okay, try-outs are this Thursday at 3 pm."

Nick and Noah looked excited at each other and went back to their dorm. Nick layed on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Noah walked around the dorm and saw a picture sticking out Nick's luggage. He picked it up and saw it was a photobooth picture with Nick kissing a guy. "You're gay?"

Nick sat up and looked at Noah. "What?"

Noah showed Nick the photobooth picture and Nick snatched it out of his hands. "What were you doing in my luggage?"

"I wasn't! It was sticking out and I'm a curious person."

Nick sighed. He wanted to wait some more before coming out to people. "I'm bisexual, that's my boyfriend Charlie." he waited for the typical homophobic comments but they didn't came."

"Cool. Where is he?" He was baffled how people changed.

"Uh- uh he's in year 13. He's a year younger than me." Nick stuttered.

Noah put his arm around Nick. "Cool."

"Okay, but just don't touch my luggage anymore." Nick chuckled awkwardly. Nick looked at the time and decided to call Charlie.

"Nick? What, i can't talk."

"I just wanted to talk with you but I can call you later?"

"Yeah, sounds good." he heard a click. Charlie hang up without saying anything more.

Noah picked up on the fact that there was something not alright. "What happened?"

"He said he can't talk and normally we say 'goodbye' and 'I love you' and all those things, but he just hang up."

"Maybe he's not feeling like talking?" Noah tried to reassure Nick.

Nick shaked his head. "No, that's not it. We had an argument about it how he'd miss me. Obviously he'd wanna talk if we're like 2000 km away from each other. It's something else. I'm gonna call Tao to see what's up."
