Lightning paused in a crouch a low unfamiliar rumble in his chest as his feline ears twitched back and forth.

A sudden shift in the ground make him leap onto a tree branch, scrabbling to hang on, he growled towards the threat. Two white eyes staring straight into him in the dark of the forest.

A sickening smile morphed from its supposed body. And then it dissipated into the dark.

He shook his head. "Quit sha-seeing things Lightning."

He jumped off further towards where he had remembered the scream.

Jo scrambled backwards as the gras she touched fearfully frosted its dewdrops lingering from the mist in the air.

Brick snarled, lowering himself in front of the girl, his tail poised to cover her as a large mutant wolf thudded its paws against the ground, roaring back at him.

It didn't look like the other mutants they had seen. It was pure white and was a goo-like substance, it had a large canine-like body with a hole in place of a head. Its legs had replaced such, making silhouettes of wolves snarling in between its legs.

A blur of red tumbled in, Zoey emerging as she planted herself in a crouch, stick in hand.

"Hey! Want this?!" She came up with a plan on the fritz, waving the stick back and forth. This caught its attention, dropping its threatening attention.

"Go and get it then!" She reeled back, throwing the stick into the distant forest.

Zoey took a moment to exhale and crashed backwards onto the grassy floor.

Brick shook his head and leaned backwards letting his tail curl back at his side.

Jo grit her teeth. She looked like she needed to be saved. Damn it.

Zoey took a second and high-fived Anne Maria, who had followed suit.

"Good job Red!" She laughed, crouched down to her.

Tumbling out of the woods were Scott, Lightning and Cameron, who had run into each other getting back.

And the three of them were in an argument.

Idiocy, Arrogancy, and Intelligence.

Zoey looked between the group who were at the site of the attack.

Anne Maria was attempting to watch for wounds, while Brick was incessantly asking if Jo was alright. The fact that the grass had begun to spark uncontrollably in flame, she was.

Insecurity, Lack of Autonomy, Reputation.

Dakota, Mike, and herself.

Popularity, their illnesses, her-

"Zoey!"
Mike exclaimed, dashing over and sliding clumsily and moving her hair out of her face.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt-?!"

"Mike!" She laughed, carefully pyring him off of her.

"I'm fine! Besides, any wolf is a dog at heart." She giggled as she imagined the large wolf mutant she had nicknamed, 'Endogeny'

Her expression dropped slightly.

Dawn would have liked that pun.
