Kaylen's POV:
"We haven't seen Will-" Lucas says.
"I haven't seen him since.." I hear another say.
"The powers back." We get interrupted by Nancy. I learned all of their names.
We all run over to the gate machine. Jonathan pushes the button. Nothing happens.
"Let me try-"
"Let me try, Jonathan!" Dustin shoves him away. He presses the button. I walk over to Steve.
"Nothing. Nothing is happening." I mumble.
"No shit." He laughs.
"Yeah, no.. no shit." I smile.
"Son of a bitch! You know what!" Dustin was frustrated.
"I- I can try." I whisper. No one heard me. "I can try." I say louder this time.
"How, you, a innocent girl who has just escaped from a hospital gonna do us any good?" Dustin asks.
"I didn't escape from a hospital, dweeb." I snare. "I came from," I turn my body to face the Lab. "Here." I sigh.
Everyone gasps. "So, let me try." I growl. Dustin backs away and lets me into the button thing. I raise my arm. I grunt. The gate opens.
"Holy, shit!" Lucas laughs. "She's like El!"
"El?" I ask.
"Eleven." My widens widen at the name.
"Jane?" I ask. They furrow their eyebrows. "Never mind."
Nancy and Jonathan get in the car and drive towards the lab. I take a seat on the ground.
"You okay?" Max asks, sitting next to me.
"Yeah, I'm alright." I sigh. "It's just- I didn't think running away would be so difficult. I thought I was gonna have the time of my life." I chuckle. "But now I'm lost and have no where to go." I shake my head. "I have no food, no home." I hear faint screaming from a woman.
"What's happening?" Lucas gasps.
I close my eyes. My mind goes to the lab.
"Hello?" Someone was shaking me. "Kaylen?" Steve was shaking me. I ignore him. I expand my mind closer to the lab.
"Joyce." I mumble, eyes still closed. "Her name is Joyce." I notice. "A man just died. Oh, uh, Bob." I hear them gasp. "A man is pulling her away from in there, Hopper. There is a boy, Mike..." I pause. "They got into the car and are driving away."
"Watch out!" I couldn't get out of my trance. "Kaylen!" Steve yells. "Screw it." I feel someone pick me up. I gasp, my eyes opening. I scream, almost getting hit by a car. Steve pulls me away in his arms just in time. "Jesus Christ, Kaylen." Steve mumbles. He looks at me. "You okay?" I nod.
He puts me down. "Get in!" Hopper exclaims. Steve opens the door and lets everyone in first. I squeeze in between Lucas and Max. Dustin was on the other side of Lucas. "Okay, let's go!" Steve hits the side of the car. We zoom off.
