Night Raven: Lovesick

Infection

Yuu walks into Professor Trein's class and sits next to Idia. The two had only glanced at each other, but they were more comfortable after Yuu mentioned Mario Kart.

"H-H-Hi Yuu! What's up?" Idia stutters, trying to make eye contact with Yuu.

"Hi, Idia. How's your latest project going?" Yuu asks, opening her history book.

"Um, it's going well. Would you like to play a game of Mario Kart when school is over?" Idia asks, shaking in his seat.

"Yeah, sure! I haven't played in soo long!" Yuu answers, clapping her hands.

"Yay! Onii-chan asked a girl out on a date!" Ortho shouts, making everyone look at Idia, covering his head with his hoodie.

"AhAhhhHahAAhha!" Idia groans as the class snickers, laughs, and shakes their heads.

"I-Idia, is this a date?" Yuu asks, looking at the red figure covered by the hoodie.

"No, it's not," Idia answers, his hair almost extinguished.

Idia cries a little and gets a coughing fit from his weeping. He coughs more as he chokes on his saliva and falls to the floor. Yuu rushes over with a bottle of water.

"Idia! Drink the water!" Yuu screams as Idia coughs some more.

"Thanks for the water, Yuu," Idia says as he takes a couple of deep breaths.

"Yuu, I can't believe you're going on a date with that shut-in," Ace says as he eats his lunch.

"It's not a date. Besides, Ortho will be there with us," Yuu replies, biting her sandwich.

"Be a bit mature, Ace. If Yuu says it's not a date, then it's not a date," Deuce chimes in, drinking a soda.

"Ok, don't beat me up. Damn, Cater's not looking too good," Ace states, looking at Cater's pale veiny skin as he eats with Vil.

Cater starts hacking, and Vil backs away from him. He vomits pink liquid onto the table and collapses onto the table. Everyone is silent and looks as Vil puts on white gloves and pokes Cater with a lunch tray. Cater's eyes open, and he glances at Vil, then at Yuu.

"Lovely..." Cater whispers as he makes eye contact with Yuu.

"Oh ew..I think Cater is looking at me," Yuu states, recoiling from disgust as pink liquid drips from Cater's mouth.

Cater jolts up and jumps onto Vil. He bites onto his shoulder, and Vil shrieks. Vil's skin turns the same as Cater's, and pink liquid drips from his mouth. Everyone panics and runs out of the cafeteria.

"Yuu, we need to leave! Come on!" Deuce yells, as Yuu stares at Vil biting Rook's hand.

The world feels small to Yuu, the possibility of dying in another world feels closer, and she cries. She weeps and weeps until Grim lets out a hiss.

"NYAH! What are you doing, human?! We gotta go!" Grim yells, snapping Yuu out of her panicked state.

Deuce and Ace ran out of the cafeteria with Yuu and Grim as the infected bite more people. The doors are locked behind them as Yuu looks back and sees a bloody hand slam on the door's window. She backs up a little farther like everyone else, and a green eye presses itself against the window and scans everyone on the other side. It focuses on Yuu, and its hand punches through the window, scraping the wooden door. Everyone starts running again, but some of the third years start vomiting that same liquid in the halls.

"Yuu! Over here!" Ace screams, shutting the door on a infected's hand as Yuu runs inside. "We can get to the hall of mirrors here."

Yuu crawls through the vent with her friends and looks down on the Hall of Mirrors. The infected filled the Hall of Mirrors due to everyone attempting to return to ther dorms or home. Luckily, since there were so many people, the mirrors were already activated.

"Ace, Deuce, you go to Heartslabyul. I'll find a way back on my own," Yuu whispers, opening the vent quietly.

"We're not leaving you behind in the wake of the zombie apocalypse! We're making it back together!" Ace and Deuce reply, looking as some Savanclaw students hold down a Scarabia student as Leona approaches them with his bloody mouth.

"Then I'm sorry for what I'm about to do," Yuu says, tearing up a little.

Yuu pushes the vent open and pushes Ace and Deuce out of it at the perfect angle where they go into the Heartslabyul mirror.

"Great. Ace and Deuce are safe, but what about us?" Yuu asks, looking as Leona bites the Scarabia student on the neck and lets the infection take over. After the Scarabia student becomes infected, the Savanaclaw students let go of him and wander around.

Leon and Chris hear the screams of students, and proceed through the woods with caution.

"Sherry! Ana! We've got a problem. Night Raven College seems to be under attack. Can you brief us on what Yuu said about overblots?" Chris asks into his intercom.

"Sure thing. According to Yuu, overblots are basically when a magic user's negative feelings pile up to the point they have a breakdown and turn into humanoid ink monsters. Only way to turn them back is by wearing them down," Ana explains, pulling up a picture of Riddle in his overblot form.

"Be careful. People from this world tend to be more unhinged when they overblot. You might not be able to talk them down," Sherry says.

"Will do," Leon and Chris say together.

"We need to find Yuu fast. Something tells me this might be like our past missions," Chris states, walking down the dark part of the forest leading to NRC.

Something rustles in the bushes, and Leon cocks his gun. A deer shakily walks out and stumbles past Leon until it collaspes on the ground. Someone had bitten its leg, from the looks of the bite mark, a predator had bit its leg. Leon shoots the deer in the head, and blood splatters on the tree's roots.

"What the hell is going on?" Leon questions, hearing more groans than screams.
