The sun had risen high in the sky, shining down below onto the sandy dunes where MK and Mei had started training. They looked so adorable when they trained. Of course, they both held back, but that was to be expected when one was fighting a friend. Mei was the flashy one, gaining attention as she summoned her green dragon behind her. She was playing the role of the villain against MK. She was being a bit corny with those fake laughs and that proud stance. In reality, most villains who knew what they were doing would never engage in banter so corny and obvious. They would be acting like a friend, acting like a fool to those around them to lead suspicion away from them, to gain the naive trust of those they planned to use. Not all villains rolled like that, but the ones she had met had hidden in plain sight behind a facade of a caring friend.

Mei was being corny for a villain, which Li could fix, but decided that she should show up when things went horribly wrong, which they would. She just had that feeling of dread she had tried never to let reach her before. Li snapped herself out of her thoughts, just in time to see MK beat his chest friend in that small training session. Both of them seemed so happy, even before all of the mess that occurred when one followed in the steps of the Great Sage, Equal to Heaven. How Li wished she could have such a bond for a fleeting moment, but that desire quickly dissipated when she remembered why she never got too close. It would be best if she didn't become friends with these insufferably naive mortals. It would be best for them all in the long run. She needed to deny her feelings and wants to see what others needed further down the line.

The best friends returned to the ship, happily chowing down on the snacks that Pigsy had cooked up for them. They were such a great team of individuals. Not only was their team well balanced in all areas which granted them high chances of success, but they also seemed to care for each other genuinely. What a functional team! How admirable MK was for putting together such powerful individuals into a singular team and making it work out. This was one of the few reasons why she had promised to keep the kid safe, even from herself.

As Li got lost in thought again, she barely noticed the small noises of destruction emanating from the city in the distance. It was only until the blue waves of cold and fear blasted over her and over to MK's team. From her perch on top of a sharp rock, she could see the dust rising in small patches. Eventually, the source of such uproar from the sandy waves below her became visible. A metal spider robot jumped out, staying in one place. She watched as MK's face quickly lost the look of shock and twisted into a small frown. He jumped off of the ship and burst forward. He was using one of Monkey King's powers against this seemingly small robot. Li had a feeling that this wasn't supposed to be a fight that MK would win with such ease. As MK crashed his flaming fist into the red light on the front of the machine, a blue circle appeared. From where Li rested it was unclear what it said if it said anything. The robot was sent flying across the sandy plains of the desert while MK stood when he had been left to fall. He seemed mortified at seeing whatever this was. Another loud, mechanical noise whirred above her. It was from the flying machine that MK had been on only mere seconds ago. Were they leaving him? No, they would never. If they left she would make sure he would get back to them, or stay with her. If they were that flaky, MK wouldn't need them anyway.

The little robot came back. Though it wasn't alone, a shine of vengeance gleamed on its cracked metal. It yet again went to attack MK, crushing the poor kid under it. Li started to move into action before being stopped at the edge of the rock by the golden flashes of light, indicating that he was still alive and well enough to use another power of his. He grew to a magnificent height, only to be shifted by the circle thing appearing below him. The symbols on the side continued to glow orange as they slowly filled in the empty ring. This was and. Very, very bad.
