I looked at the Weavers gratefully, the Weavers bowed down to me loyally, and they then scuttled away silently. Taking a step forward, I walked outside my home. The familiar scuttling of spiders echoed everywhere, I took a deep breath as I start moving.
Excursion: "Aside from the scuttling of bugs, Deepnest is pretty calming..."
???: "Hey! Are you the new lord?"
I turned around and saw a healthy red spider, probably a variant made from the system. The red champion variants have much more health. He was missing some legs, his legs were shriveled like a raisin. There was also a cane besides him that was made from metal, I walked up to the bug.
His head was a brown that bled into the red, causing a dull red color. Its neck was very long, it was abnormal and reminded me of a giraffe. There was a small cloak on his neck, it looked like it was choking him.
Excursion: "Yeah, I'm the lord, why do you ask?"
Gebo: "I'm Gebo, one of Herrahs last royal guards. I wanted to see the new lord, and judge him. I do not follow by the opinion of others, I am a forger of my own ideas."
Excursion: "I don't understand, why do you need to judge me?"
Gebo: "I don't want a buffoon who has nothing to offer leading Deepnest. Now, lord, do you know your goal, the grand scheme that you dedicate yourself too?"
Excursion: "I had the goal of being remembered by everyone... But after a while I forgot about it, and now I really am fine if I'm forgotten. So I don't know what my goal is."
I said as I tap my hard head, causing a hollow knocking sound to be emitted from my eyeholes. Gebo looked very serious, making me stop tapping, Gebo raised one of his shriveled arms and grabbed his cane.
Gebo: "So you've been running around Hollownest like a damn headless cockroach? Boy... I'm not your father, and I don't want to be, but you really got to find a new goal."
Excursion: "If only it were that easy."
Gebo: "You got to evolve boy, this world won't stick with you. Soon enough you'll be exploring the vast world, seeing all the sights and staring in awe, but it doesn't matter what happens if you don't have a goal. It is a small thing, but it adds to everything, every achievement will be increased tenfold and the feeling of getting closer to completing that dream... That is life, completing our dreams and spreading that positivity to everyone."
Excursion: "... I didn't really think about it like that, Gebo, but the fact is I don't have a goal. I don't want to be rich, powerful or even have a group of girls with me! I just want to live, normally while exploring the world. And I'll just let the world hurl its problems at me as I solve them myself, until I die."
Gebo: "So you just want to explore? I expected bigger goals, but it's fine. Now I'll just wait for you to prove yourself that you are a worthy lord."
Excursion: "Say Gebo, do you have any stories of Herrah? Since you were part of her royal guard."
Gebo: "Alright, let me tell you a story that was occurring when the Pale King first arrived into Hollownest..."
/Flashback Also Gebo POV/
Hollownest back then was much more dangerous and primal in nature due to the Pale King's rule not being enforced everywhere. Herrah, taking the place as general, was very strict and merciless towards any opposition.
She even ate her enemies while in the battlefield! There we were marching towards the Pale King and his entourage of servants, his face was that of pride mixed with disgust. Our reputation back then was horrendous, we weren't known for our advanced silk spells, rather we were known for our pure uncontainable savagery.
A Weaver wouldn't fall without killing at least one person, the Pale King's extra long cloak dragged on the rough ground. He walked straight up to Herrah without a care in the world! Like she was a mere ant before a god, Herrah snarled as blood from a recent meal poured out and leaked on the ground.
The blood stained the Pale King's shoulder, the Pale King looked very angered because of it. I stood behind Herrah, with a sharp and slick star shaped blade that was forged by the best of Hollownest. I called it night killer, Herrah tasked me with protecting her if she was surprised attacked.
I was her extra eye, behind me there were a bunch of weaker weavers that were extra backup. Underneath the Pale King's breath he muttered with disgust "Feeble minded beast, her only backing is her voluptuous body".
He said the only reason that Herrah reached this status is because of her very nice appearance, not her combat ability. Herrah heard what the king said and then everything became a bloodbath, legs were eaten, and a whole man got shoved down Herrahs throat! It was truly invigorating!
Seeing her do those things with such elegance awakened a feeling within me, the need to protect her, even at the cost of my own life! I would lay down my very soul to save her! Anything for my queen Herrah!
