"You've been awfully quite these days, darling."

"..."

"Mind telling me what's going on? Is there anything I can do?"

"... Maybe there is."

"Honey, you know you can trust me. You can tell me anything, I'm here to listen."

"This is just, way too much..."

"What is too much? Your ascension?"

"Yeah... How were you able to deal with this change so easily?"

"Who ever said that I coped with this easily?"

Eli chuckled a little and sat next to his beloved. He gently held her hand, gave her a kiss on the cheek, and buried his head on her shoulder.

"You know, love? When I got here, I was terrified. I didn't know what I was meant to do. I felt more lost than I ever have in all my time here. I really didn't know if I would make it, but... There's one thing that gave me the courage I needed to give this entire adventure the best of me."

"What was it? Resolve? Determination? A sudden rush of inspiration?"

"Nice guesses, but not correct. It was you, Penny."

"M- Me? Out of everything?"

"Well, of course! You were one of the very few threads I was hanging from at that time. You don't understand how important the thought of you was to me in that moment."

"Eli..."

Penny couldn't help but start crying. She buried her head on Eli's shoulder, and hugged him real tight.

"I feel exactly the same way..." She said as she sobbed.

"And that's totally fine, love." Eli said. "This world was made for us to not be afraid of showing what we feel. I know how it feels to drown in your own thoughts. I know the pain it is to feel like you're alone when you've given everything for others. But you know what, Penny? I'm here for you, I always have been."

Eli gently moved out of her arms and looked at her in the eyes. She dried the tears off her face with his cape, and she gently moved her hair out of the way.

"I love you, Penny. I always have." He said. "I know it's hard to forget that moment full of pain and betrayal, but you know that's not who I really am. I've given my life to protect you, and it'll be that way until life decides it's been enough."

After hearing those words, Penny's crying came to a subtle ending. Her eyes gently glowed, showing that she was really touched by the things her beloved had just said. She didn't say a single word, and instead approached Eli to kiss him. It was a kiss full of trust, acceptance, and most importantly, love.

"You're the reason I'm here, Eli." Penny said as she caught a smirk. "You've helped me grow and escape that dark void that was consuming me. You taught me that this world is full of people that are actually worth it. Perhaps patience truly is a virtue. If it weren't for that, I would have never found and loved you..."

"Wow, I never knew you had a way with words!" Eli said as he chuckled along with her. "I know this is a great change for you, leaving behind things you were fond of to find new ones. But I promise you that, no matter what happens, I'll always be here by your side. I'll be the angel you always say I am."

"I love you, Eli. Thank you... Thank you!" Penny said as she couldn't hide the happiness she was feeling deep inside. "Please never leave me..."

"You know I'd never do that. I love you too!" Eli said back.

Eli then got up and held Penny's hand, and they walked through the world of the gods like it was that little peace of heaven they had always asked for.
