"There was a neighbor I had. They were always pretty weird, but I paid it no mind. Oh Lord, if I had known that would be my biggest mistake.
I lead a quiet life since getting out of college, going to be a writer, my hopes were up, and my expectations for myself were always set-sky high. That was just the type of person I was, overly hard on myself. The suburbs of New York were a pretty nice place, the city was too crowded.
The only reason I had known what It was like was because of my college there Columbia University was an all-around good college, I just despised the multitude of rats that sometimes infested the various dorms and apartments on campus. Those four years were something of a blur, having to walk everywhere, keep your bags close to you; Luckily, I didn't have to go through that anymore.
Freelance writing was something that I loved to do in my spare time when I was young, and it had quickly become my passion within a matter of months. I knew a person like me had the ability, I just never put it to use until my senior year of high school, that was when things started to change for me.
Now, 5 years later, I'm 24 years old, set up for the rest of my life. The neighborhood I resided in was almost cookie-cutter. Picket fences and bright-white houses. It was rare that I would ever see anybody though. Back to the neighbor. She was a nice woman, I'd suppose. Lighter colored skin, about my height with nice long dark brown hair.
Her name was Lauren. Lauren wasn't really a nuisance, but I wasn't that fond of her, nor was I of her behavior. It started off as little things like staring at me a little too long during conversation, or the usual excessive number of compliments. She'd never told me of her job, and I never bothered to ask her about it. It was her business, and I didn't want to intrude.
She would constantly ask me to go to the club with her, and I'd always decline. I didn't know that girl like that. She had to be around my age, or a year older than me. When I told my mom about her, she suggested that it might be good for us to mingle, for us to get out-explore. I 'didn't know about all of that......"
"Annnnd I'm done for today!' I sighed, clicking save for a recent rough draft that I was doing. I looked over to Kelly from my big office chair and had her read over some of my drafts.
"You like it?" I asked her eagerly, Kelly had been my right-hand woman for the longest, she'd tell me if she didn't like something or not. She put her finger on her chin.
"Yeah, this is great girl! I think the boss is gonna love what you've got going on!" Sighing, I hopped out of the office chair and gave her a quick hug and smile.
"Girl, I hope so, this is hell! He really expects us to have a 7-page paper due by 3? It's almost impossible!' She nodded in agreeance. "You got it though, go turn that in! Maybe this could really work for his next movie idea!"
Making my way out the door I yelled. "Let's hope so!"
My job was to pitch movie ideas for Sony. I was an intern there and hopefully I could get some scraps and tips for show business. Aubrey had told is to make a movie idea in the way that you wouldn't normally write a character. My passion was screenwriting, and I wanted it bad. So of course I jumped on the project with ease.
Making my way down to his office, I knocked on the big mahogany doors, with a few pages of my transcript in my hands. I wanted to know if he was messing with the idea before I started to really get into the script. Knocking again, I soon heard a faint "come in!" from the other side.
