Morning drags the sun across the sky in a blinding blur, and Kars is missing again.

The thing that took place just the previous night marks its proof in her skin, patterns where his nails bit into her leg stuck in random like stars in the sky. She hated the sting they delivered with each slight move.

Walking felt like needles stuck into her flesh, each step delivering a variant of the same hiss she'd let escape from between clenched teeth.

With Kars having disappeared in the morning once again, (Y/n) was granted a bit of free time once more, and left the small make-shift house simply to venture around.

There wasn't much ground to cover through the jungle, even in its seemingly infinite grounds she knew there was an end to it; perhaps that's what made it feel all so much smaller. Like drinking from a cup, you know you'll reach the bottom soon, but not until you start to hear the air bubbling through the straw.

In that newfound time she enjoyed herself in, (Y/n) was nearly able to touch one end of the island to the next.

With this peace, that brittle mental fortress of hers finally began to crumble, slowly, a sandcastle eroded by the waning shore.

But then it built itself up again, all on its own, like guilt had denied the relief the heart grieved for. It was put back together with children's bandages and ducktape, teetering now, like a Jenga tower ready to fall any moment. She could feel herself falling, any moment.

The knife she had took to whet against a stone shone dully, the scars against its body nearly mirroring her own. It looked more like her than any mirror. She's so tired.

Something disturbs the somber quiet of her own silence, the heavy tracks of something behind her, and with the quick shift of the blade in her hand, she can make out Wamuu through the grey mess of scratches.

He recognizes, rather quickly, of just how aware she was to his presence, and stopped his approach. "Is something the matter?"

"What do you want."

Maybe he wasn't prepared for such a bitter response, because he stiffens, just the slightest, unnoticeable bit, and clears his throat. "Just checking on you."

"Don't. I don't need to be checked on, I'm not a kid."

"I know, but I found Kars sulking, so I wondered if something happened."

"Did he tell you something happened?"

"He told me you weren't happy with him."

A laugh escapes her before she can catch it, "Well, I guess he finally got the hint! Good for him."

"He's always been a bit brash, that Kars, please know that."

"Yeah, his personality has nothing to do with it. I absolutely, indefinitely, have no reason to like him, and don't."

Wamuu slowly begins to move again, hesitantly, like he was circling some viscous snake ready to snap at him. "I get it. You don't want that." He says, making his way to her front. "You need someone that's gentle with you."

(Y/n)'s eyes flick upward to stare at him, and she can easily see the face he makes as he speaks, lowering himself to sit near her-- but she's not sure what that expression is, an oddity. It almost looks like the insufferable one Kars makes when he looks at her, though for some reason, it didn't put her on edge.
