Chapter 15

Lilith hesitates before raising her hand to knock on the door.

"I would not do that if I were you."

Lilith spins around, putting a hand on her chest.

"Rebekah, you scared me."

Rebekah stares at her for a moment before releasing a sigh.

"Why are you here?"

Lilith narrows her eyes at Rebekah, she didn't recall Rebekah being so unpleasant.

"I came to see Elena, I hear–"

"Then you should go back home; Elena does not need to see you– not after what you did."

"You are mad at me for saving her life?"

"Do not-"

"Rebekah, that is enough."

Rebekah bawls her fists at the sound of Elijah's voice, how had she missed the sound of the door opening?

"Elijah–"

"Go inside, Rebekah."

Rebekah huffs as her eyes land on Lilith.

"Rebekah."

Without another word, Rebekah storms inside the home.

"My apologies, Rebekah has been–"

"It is fine, Elijah."

Elijah nods his head as his body becomes less tense.

"What brings you here today, Lilith? Have you come to see Elena?"

"Yes, Tatia says she's awake... how is she?"

Elijah grimaced at the question.

"I suppose that means she is not doing well?"

"No, no, Elena is doing fine. It's just her magic–"

"Oh, I see."

Elijah moves to the side of the open door, watching her expectantly.

"Did you want to come in?"

Lilith bites her lip, before shaking her head.

"I think it would be best for me to go home. Rebekah–"

"Rebekah did not mean what she said."

"Just– give this to her for me."

Lilith places the golden bracelet in Elijah's hand.

"How-"

"I found it near her body that night; I– I just wanted to be the one who gave it back to her."

Lilith turns around, quickly walking off.

Elijah looks down at the bracelet with a sigh before closing the door.
