LIFE OR DEATH

Chapter Eight

ZIAH POV

"This better be an emergency! Your father has important pack things to work on, and I have womens' club tonight! You know how much I love my club!" My mother whined into the phone.

It's been like this for the last fifteen minutes. I answered expecting my usual happy mother, but apparently she's on vacation, because when I answered, I got a whining teenager! I mean seriously all the women in that club were over fifty! She was only forty-one! I know me and Darren are going to tell my parents about being pregnant tonight, but I'm a hair away from faking illness and canceling, just so I don't have to listen to the damnable woman complain all night! I'm the pregnant one! I should be complaining!

"I mean it. I was supposed to bring my famous blackberry tarts! Those women love my-"

"Mother..." I said calmly.

"Yes?"

"I'm sure they'll wait for your infamous blackberry tarts."

"I said famous!"

I rolled my eyes at the phone and mad a face that mocked my mom. Darren chuckled. "Whatever..."

"Were you just mocking me?"

I felt myself pale and my eyes widen. "No Mother I did not mock you!" Darren doubled over laughing. Even though me and my wolf agreed that his deep laugh was sexy, it was pissing me off at the moment.

"Anyway, I can't believe your making me miss my-"

God, that woman could grind my gears! "Shut up! I promise you won't want to miss this and if you do, well.... when you find out about it, you'll regret it forever!"

"Nothing can be that important can it?" She said breathlessly.

"You'll just have to see for yourself!"

She sighed. "Fine! Know what?! Whatever! Max and the twins shoved their way into our car somehow we'll be there in about five minutes. Love you!"

In the background I could hear Max and the girls yell that they loved me. I smiled and kicked a grape across the kitchen floor with my shoe. "Tell everyone I love them too. Bye Mom see you in a few minutes."

When I hung up, Darren was still clutching his stomach, laughing. I glared at him. "No offense babe, but now I really know where you get your stubbornness from."

I faked a smile and a laugh. "Yeah? Well, no offense babe, but right now a sharp pointy knife to your balls sounds really freakin' good right now!"

He shut up instantly. Funny how threats to the jewels are the fastest way to scare a man. He looked around the room nervously, probably knowing that I meant it. "You wouldn't really do that, would you love?"

I shrugged holding back the smirk that was trying to make an appearance, so I could have an innocent look.

"I love you?" he squeaked. "You're the center of my universe?"

I just stared at him. I heard him mumble a few things about paying attention in creative writing. I let my smirk show then. I crossed my arms and leaned my hip against the table. "You think you can not laugh, now?"

He nodded his head extremely fast. I laughed when his hair fell into his eyes. I pushed off against the table and walked over to him, with my arms reaching toward him. he just stayed where he was.

"Aw... Did the big bad wolf's little mate scare the shit out of him?" He nodded.

I waited a couple minutes until I heard a car door slam. Darren laughed. I rolled my eyes and whispered, "And... the monsters have arrived!"
