SURPRISE!

Chapter Nine

DARREN'S POV

"Ziah, baby, you know I love you right?"

She took a break looking bedding, to look at me. "Yeah, definitely."

I fake smiled, "Then just pick a damn set of sheets already! This is the beginning of the fucking list!"

"Oh, excuse me! I'm sorry I want the best for our son! If you don't like that then you can just sleep in the dog house for a month!" She dropped the sheets she was looking at and walked away.

I sighed. Everyone says their mate is even more beautiful when she's pregnant, and though that may be true, mine is very moody. All the older men talked about mood swings... none of their stories prepared me for Ziah. She gets to the point where she either sleeps with a shot gun under her pillow or sits above me while I'm sleeping, with a knife above my heart. Okay, that's not true, but it's pretty close.

The other day she wanted eggs for breakfast, while she was in the other room, she changed her mind. I guess she hollered what she wanted instead, but even with my advanced hearing I couldn't hear her. After going to give them to her, I walked out of the living room with eggs in a place where the sun don't shine, and eggs should never be.

That is just a start, too. She has become an extreme tease. We get in the mood and then she pulls the typical 'I'm tired' shit, and my wolf and I fall for it every freakin' time. It's like no matter what I do to try to please her, it ends up back in my face. Don't get me wrong I would die for her in a heartbeat without even thinking about it, but I can't wait until this damn kid comes out!

Thank god we only have a month left, but stress is heavy right now because we held off on decorating the nursery. That is why we are now yelling at each other in the baby store, luckily it is owned by people in the pack, but I can tell they want to kick us out. Especially since Landon and Jeremy thought it would be fun to try the baby food. It probably didn't help when Max and the twins wanted to try out the jumpers and rockers.

The worst part was when Landon, Jeremy, and Max decided to race the strollers. Two of the strollers contained a twin, while the other had about fifty stuffed animals. Apparently the stuffed animals weighed the same amount as the twins.

So now we have destroyed a lot of baby food, a stroller, a rocking chair, a jumper, two dressers, and a rack of diapers. We are so lucky we are Alphas, but I'm sure if our friends do any more damage that won't help us at all. It definitely doesn't help Ziah's mood, that's for sure.

"Babe listen, I'm sorry. This is all just getting to me. Let's just calm down and work on this together, okay?"

Ziah took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay. I'm sorry for snapping, it's just these damn hormones. I can't control them and the stress along with our friends aren't helping at all. Forgive me?"

I smiled. "Always. Just please don't make me sleep in the dog house or hurt me."

Her eyes glassed over. "You think I would hurt you? Oh my god! I'm such a horrible mate! I'm sorry!" She started crying in the middle of the store. See what I told you... mood swings.

"Hey, I was just joking. You're the best mate I could ever ask for! Don't ever doubt that."

She nodded and smiled, "God I hate hormones. I love carrying the baby inside me, but I can't wait till it's over."

"One more month."

She smiled and grabbed my hand. We walked off to the crib section. Luckily when we got there, we caught the crew getting ready to get us kicked out. Landon was in a crib, with a bib on, and sucking his thumb, while curled into a ball. The twins were in another crib pretending to ball their eyes out. Max was on a wooden rocking horse acting like he was riding in the wild west. My favorite though was when Jeremy got slapped by a pregnant human because he was trying to hit on her. Only then did he see the big rock on her left ring finger.
