Taurus made his way back to his bedroom, grinning uncontrollably as he heard Tremani's squeals. It came as a surprise to him since he had been put down for a nap prior to Taurus leaving the room. What could've possibly have gotten him that excited?
"I thought you were supposed to be taking a nap." Taurus spoke, followed by a giggle. "What are you even playing with anyways?" As he approached the room, soft murmurs filled his ears. Taurus stopped in his tracks and listened closely. Upon closer inspection, he was able to make out a few words. He immediately noticed something was off. Tremani wasn't able to speak quite yet and the tv didn't seem to be on so where could this sound be coming from?
"Um, Tremani?" He called out. Tremani didn't bother to face him, another indicator that something wasn't right. Tremani usually looked at Taurus whenever his name was called. Taurus began to worry. "What's going on? Are you good?"
Once he entered the room, he began to look for the source of the sound and it didn't take him long to find it. The answer stood right in front of him. Taurus began to tremble in fear and rushed to take Tremani out of his crib. "Are you fucking serious right now? This can't be happening." Taurus uttered shakily. "It just seems like shit keeps happening to me; one thing after the next. Will I ever catch a break?"
"I understand why you're mad at me but I just wanna talk." The voice responded while approaching Taurus. Taurus slowly retreated.
"Then why do you keep bothering me? I want nothing to do with you! You make me feel unsafe, I don't wanna be around you anymore!" He spat, his voice raised slightly. "You heard what Crystal said, stay away from me Tione!" Tione shook his head.
"That's impossible, I don't think you get it." He replied. "I need you and I couldn't imagine being forced to live without you." He advanced towards Taurus once more until the pair were face to face. He held Tremani tightly in his grip.
"Can you back the fuck up? Didn't I just say that I didn't want you near me?" Taurus inquired but deep down, Tione could tell he didn't mean it. He was only saying what Crystal wanted him to say; what Crystal conditioned him to say, in an effort to please her. Even when she wasn't present, Taurus still felt the need to satisfy her. It was almost as if he weren't able to think for himself.
"Taurus you don't want this, you don't wanna leave me and you don't want me to stop talking to you. You only doing this cus if Crystal's dusty ass but she ain't here no more." Tione voiced while looking Taurus in the eye. "You don't gotta please her anymore, you can make yo own decisions."
"But I don't want you here! You hurt Crystal and there's no telling if you'd do the same to me!" Taurus argued. He was sure he wanted Tione gone; or at least he thought so. Tione let out a sigh.
"We've been friends for a long time Taurus, do you actually think I'd hurt you? You've done nothing but make me happy, I have no reason to." He rebutted. "I would never want to hurt you."
"Then why did you fight Crystal? If you didn't want to hurt me then you wouldn't have put your hands on her!"
"That bitch deserved it, she shouldn't have ever gotten comfortable with being disrespectful to you and as long as I'm around that ain't gone happen again. That shit don't fly around here." Taurus couldn't formulate a good argument. It was true, she did deserve it.
"I—I guess you're right." He stuttered, breaking eye contact with Tione. "Maybe she did deserve it." Tione smiled before wrapping his arms around him. Taurus jumped at the sudden action.
"You damn right I am, you gotta learn how to respect yourself ight? You can't just let people treat you any ol' kinda way just so they can be happy, you gotta put yourself first." Tione advised. "She had no business treating you and Tremani like that, y'all deserve better." Taurus nodded. Oddly, he felt comforted by Tione's embrace.
"Okay, I'll try and do that. I just feel like I had no choice since she was practically all I had and I didn't wanna lose her." Taurus expressed. "But I guess it didn't work out in the end."
"Well you got me."
"I guess I do." Taurus responded. "You're not mad at me for being mean to you like that, are you?" Taurus questioned.
"No, not at all cus it wasn't yo fault. Crystal manipulated you into thinking that I was in the wrong. It's not like you meant to, you just wanted to keep you and Tremani safe."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize, it's ight." Tione assured him. With that, he leaned down and gently planted a kiss on Taurus' forehead. Taurus' could feel his face heat up and for a second, he could've sworn his heart skipped a beat.
"Oh, um okay." Taurus spoke rather awkwardly, earning a chuckle from Tione.
