Song of the Chapter: Not About Angels by Birdy

"'Cause what about, what about
angels
They will come, they will go and
make us special"

Lydia and I looked at the flame. We were trying to have a premonition or something like it. We needed to find Brett and Lori.

I intertwined my hand with hers and grabbed a pen.

"You all right?" Corey asked Mason.

"Yeah, why?"

"Just checkin'."

"No, it's okay, I don't see anything."

"Huh?" Corey looked at him confused.

"Nothing." Mason whispered.

"Guys, you two are really cute and all but we need absolute silence." I looked at them.

"Sorry." They apologized at the same time.

"They ever tried this before?" Corey asked Mason.

"Initiating a premonition? A few times." He answered. "They usually find her. Lia has sudden visions and Lydia hears voices."

"How will it help us find him?" Corey asked.

"I don't know. But if Brett's dead, I think they'd already know."

I squeezed my eyes shut trying to concentrate.

"Do you think it's working?" Corey asked.

"It might if you stopped talking." Lydia replied annoyed.

Mason and Corey nodded.

Lydia and I looked at each other. I looked at the flame and placed the pen's tip on the paper. I felt something.

Suddenly, I heard a clanking noise and sighed. Corey had moved the pendulum.

We looked at them. Mason cleared his throat.

"Sorry." They said at the same time.

"We need you to be quiet to initiate a premonition." Lydia spoke.

I started hearing noises. A bell ringing. Footsteps approaching. I looked at the flame and it went out.

"I think she already did." I heard Corey's voice.

I closed my eyes and started writing absentmindedly. My hand moved as if it had a mind of its own. I was in a trance-like state.

"Lia." Lydia touched my shoulder and I stopped.

I looked around disoriented and touched my nose seeing blood.

"Is she okay?" Corey asked.

"I think so." Lydia replied.

"What did I write?" I asked grabbing a tissue to clean my nose.

We look at the paper and frowned.

"Does anyone speak Chinese?" Corey asked.

"My phone does." Mason pulled his phone out of his pocket.

He turned on his phone and took a photo of the paper.

"LUX, V." Corey read from the paper.

"No, it's a Roman numeral, 68." I spoke.

"68." Mason looked at his phone. "That's what the Chinese says, too."
