Jungkook's gaze captures the warrior's gentle smile, which makes his heart beating faster within seconds. Crazy how much a stranger can trigger in him by doing so little. Then Jungkook catches himself thinking that maybe the warrior has been waiting for him all along. But just as quickly, he stamps the thought as "nonsense" while shaking his head. After all, he wanted to stop speculating.
"I've been waiting for you."
After these words, Jungkook's heart stops abruptly, and for a short moment, he even forgets to breathe. How can it be? Normally, Jungkook would tell himself that it's surely just a dream, but that wouldn't make any sense in this case. The warrior was really waiting for him...
"Don't you like talking to me?" the stranger asks.
"I'm sorry, it's just...I have so many questions, and I don't even know where to start."
"So, you're no different than me, then."
There it is again; that lovely smile that makes his handsome face even more beautiful. How can he remain so cheerful and unconcerned even though he speaks to a "ghost voice"?
"Aren't you afraid?", Jungkook asks skeptically.
"Of what?"
"Well...of me?"
"No, I'm not afraid. Your voice isn't that of a dangerous monster nor a creepy ghost. It wouldn't fit," the warrior laughs heartily.
Was that a joke? Or some kind of compliment? Jungkook is confused.
"Yeah...I'm nothing more than a simple man. But...why can't you see me then?"
"I was hoping for you to explain it to me."
Great. Jungkook's hope of getting an answer shatters on the spot. The warrior seems to be as clueless as he is.
"What's your name?"
"Please, call me Taehyung."
This time it's Jungkook who's grinning. Taehyung - a beautiful name. So, from now on, the nameless warrior no longer exists.
"And yours?"
"Jungkook."
How quickly a certain familiarity can develop even though they've done nothing more but revealing their names.
Suddenly, Taehyung approaches Jungkook on all fours. The inches between them become less, while Jungkook's heartbeat becomes faster.
"Please, tell me where you are."
"Wait!"
The warrior stops immediately. If he took one more step towards Jungkook, the tips of their noses would meet.
"Now you're right in front of me," Jungkook whispers.
Curious, the warrior extends his arm, but it passes through Jungkook's chest. No points of contact, as if his body is nothing but air.
"Maybe you're really a ghost after all?"
A chuckle follows, and a "cute" escapes Jungkook's thoughts.
"No! I'm not! And what about you? Are you even real or nothing more than an illusion of mine?"
Sitting back on his heels, Taehyung furrows his eyebrows with a questioning look.
"What do you mean? Of course, I'm real. You're the one without a body here, not me."
Well...he's right.
"Why are you even here, Jungkook?"
"I don't know why...I don't even know where I am. I thought this was nothing more than a mere dream."
