Sage entered the room after she had composed herself. She attempted to act calm and collected but did a miserable job at that. The little girl was overwhelmed with emotion, so it was hard to keep her cool. Her friends' curiosity did not help.
"What was that?" asked Mylo as he looked at her suspiciously. In a questioning manner, he pointed a finger back and forth between her and the door. Sage shrugged her shoulders as she bounced down the stairs. She heard Mylo scoff to her right.
"Is Vi okay? Are you?" Claggor asked next. Sage faced the two of them and avoided their eyes.
"Yeah, Vi's fine," she muttered before walking over to Powder, who still sat on her bed. She had not moved from the position that her sister had left her in. Her face had a puzzled look on it.
"What happened?" whispered Powder after Sage laid down on the bed. Sage closed her eyes as she got emotional. She felt the bed dip next to her. The girl turned her head and opened her eyes to see Powder lying down next to her on her side.
Sage adjusted her position and turned onto her side to face Powder the same way. She let out a small sigh, and then her eyes found Powder's. "She told me that Ekko needed her help with something important," she lied through her teeth, all the while holding her friend's eyes.
"And she couldn't just tell everyone?" asked Powder with suspicion.
Sage just shrugged her shoulders and closed her eyes again. After a moment of silence between the two, she felt Powder's hand slowly but surely grasping hers. Sage smiled to herself before grabbing it and holding onto it. She did not open her eyes. Warmth spread through her body, and she felt a tiny amount of peace overcome her.
Sage had fallen into a slight slumber, and once she woke up, Powder was gone. She turned around and looked at Mylo and Claggor, who sat on the couch. She called out, "Where'd Powder go?"
Claggor looked towards her and responded, "Went up to Vander. Come check this out, Sage." He invited her to join them. Curiosity made her get out of bed and walk toward them.
On the table was an arsenal of a bunch of small weapons. Sage looked towards Claggor and asked, "What's this for?" She sat down on the edge of the table and picked up a bat, inspecting its state.
"For later, the people want to fight, and we're not gonna sit this one out," replied Mylo. She felt his hand on her shoulder and looked back at him, "You sure you don't wanna talk 'bout what happened with Vi?"
"I'm good, it doesn't matter," she said, turning his offer down. His hand left her shoulder, and, mere moments later, the door to the room opened. A sombre Powder walked into the room and headed towards her bed.
Sage decided to give Powder some space and focus on the weapons instead. She stood up from the table and cracked her back, receiving a weird look from Mylo. He turned his attention back to the weapons and voiced his thoughts, "Well, if the enforcers hit tonight, we'll be ready...I think."
The younger girl lightly nodded before Claggor spoke up, "Dibs on the bat."
Mylo seemed to have a problem with that, as he quickly began to protest, "No, no, no, no. I found it."
She listened to the two as they went back and forth as to who would get the bat. Suddenly, the door opened and in came Vi, again. This time she looked even more distressed than she did last time she came in.
