Day 6,203

It is dark. There is no moon. The stars are hidden behind heavy clouds and light pollution. The street is silent, only one street lamp sizzles and blinks. The digital screen of a watch lights up: 11:30PM. Jason looks around. All dressed in black, he rubs his hands together and hops on his feet to warm up. He glances at the creepy house behind him. It looks even more frightening now that the sun is down. He shivers and turns his back to it. A dark silhouette moves quickly towards him. It's Abby, all dressed in black as well.

"You took your sweet time, we said eleven sharp!"

"My mom wouldn't go to bed!"

Jason shrugs. Abby puts her hand in her pocket and takes out a flashlight.

"Are you sure this is a good idea? I mean, it's breaking and entering, it's kind of against the law."

"Not kind of." she points out.

"Which means it's definitely not a good idea."

"This house has been empty for the last century, we'll be fine." Abby scrutinizes the front of the house.

"There are ghosts inside, but yeah we'll be fine." sarcastically says Jason under his breath.

Abby smiles tenderly at him and climbs the stone stairs. She tries to make her steps as light as a bird's. Jason takes a quick look around and follows her.

The door faces them like a mountain. Abby grabs the doorknob with no hesitation. It's locked.

"Would have been too easy if it was open." Jason says with irony.

"Go in through a window." The sentence comes out of Abby's mouth with Lilea's tone. Like an order.

"Come on." adds the teenager. She turns to the trees on the side of the house and walks along the wall. She stops in front of a window, covered with newspapers from the inside, filthy with dust and dirt. She tries to open it, but can't produce more than a loud rattling noise. She looks at Jason, who bites his lip in order to not laugh.

"You know that I'm all about gender equality, but don't you think I should do that?"

Abby's eyes turn to purple. She gives a quick death stare to Jason before turning back to the window, pulling her sleeve over her hand and breaking the glass with her fist. Her eyes turn back to their natural hazel color as she takes a deep breath in under the shock and the pain.

"Lilea! For the love of God!" yelps Abby.

Jason clenches his teeth and quickly goes to her.

"What the heck? Why did she do that?" He looks at her hand, slightly bruised but thankfully not cut.

"She says you provoked her. Ouch!" Abby twitches as Jason touches her injured hand.

"You know that she's insane, right?"

Abby gives him a death stare. "Open the damn window instead of arguing with her."

Jason passes his hand inside and unlocks the window before sliding it up. He climbs in first and helps Abby through. She turns on her flashlight.

They are in a kitchen that hasn't change since the eighties. Cupboards doors are barely hanging, the shelves are covered in grease and dust, drawers are half open or fallen on the floor, the sink is so rusty that it blends in with the dirty counters tops. Everything is covered by a heavy coat of dust. Some dead tree leaves are on the floor, as well as empty beer bottles, cigarettes butts, broken glass, empty sodas cans and dirt.
