Back when I was 12,
I was made to do it,
The peer pressure was heavy,
But now the facts hit.
I've grown up to be an addict,
Not an adult to aspire to,
All the wrong things,
Who made me? It was you.
I smoke.
I hate it.
The facts.
Every little bit.
They are bad and so so horrid,
Tobacco, nicotine and tar,
Killing my insides all the time,
I won't get very far.
I met someone, someone who hates also,
My horrid, repulsive smoking addiction,
But we get on, loving each other,
Even if there is a small amount of friction.
I smoke.
I hate it.
The facts.
Every little bit.
Our life went on,
Soon we would have a little one,
To look after and care for,
My addiction felt like a bomb.
Why is it so hard to stop,
It is only destroying me,
I want to be a family,
Me, my wife and our daughter Emily.
I smoke.
I hate it.
The facts.
Every little bit.
I want Emily to look up to me,
But not through a wall of smoke,
I don't want her to suffer,
I don't want her to choke.
Why do I do it?
I ask myself every day,
Making the air change colour,
A horrid murky grey.
I smoke.
I hate it.
The facts.
Every little bit.
I want to quit,
I'm going to try,
I need to stop this now,
I don't want to die.
Day after day,
I'm smoking less and less,
It's helping me a lot,
But it's building up the stress.
I smoke.
I hate it.
The facts.
Every little bit.
I'm glad it's over now,
I have officially quit,
But please join me,
If you want to, do it.
I can look back now,
I can know I've improved,
An addiction that was killing me,
It was in my life- now removed.
I used to smoke.
It was a terrible thing.
I've proved something to everyone,
I feel like a king.
