Author's Note ✍️
Dear Reader,
You. Yes you!
A new story is always unnerving, especially at the beginning. Who will read it? Will they like it? What if no one votes, or comments? All these thoughts push you away from that publish button.
But with this book, I couldn't help it. It just wouldn't leave me alone. I came up with this idea years after I watched Fated to Love You, the kdrama that loosely inspired this book. I don't know when exactly but I couldn't stop thinking about how that would be a good story. It's not exactly an arranged marriage or a marriage of convenience. It's somewhere in between. And I love that in between, I wanted to explore it.
This book had gone through a lot of changes from character names to setting. Settling on a name was a struggle ehn. The Tade you are going to meet was once been a Temilololuwa, Taiwo (he still is 🙃 but it's not his main name), John, Mark, Deji, Tunde even a Kunle 🤣. And our lovely Tara was once a Lydia, Zoe, other names that I have now forgotten.
When I made the shift from writing about Americans lol 😆 to writing about Nigeria, Nigerians and the African experience at large I was worried about how my stories will fit into the Nigerian construct and blah blah blah. But when I finally made that shift from the America that I had never experienced to Nigeria that I had a little experience with, everything just felt right and everything clicked.
We all have to start somewhere, I don't despise my early beginning when I was writing now unfamiliar tales. Because that was what I thought would do well here. I am glad I took a chance then and that I allowed myself take the chance to try something different now. It was well and truly worth it.
At the root of this book is the message that God will meet you where you are, He is that willing. It might get 'preachy' if that is not your style, don't click off. Give the story a chance, who knows you might learn a thing or two from their journey to love.
Anyway, the story came hounding me again recently and I just ran out of reasons to say no to Tara and Tade (😅🌝🙃 yes, I did the matching name thing for the first time! Yay!). I hope you join them on this story of love, hope, restitution and forgiveness.
I also have to give a trigger warning. This book gets deep, it discusses rape, date rape drugs and a few sensitive things. However, the actual rape scene would not be narrated for reasons you will discover later should you decide to read this book anyway.
Thank you taking a chance on this book and this author. I hope you enjoy it.
Add this book to your library so you will notified when I post. The official release date is October 5th. 🙃😊 I hope to have finished Unfiltered by then so I will have time to read and upload this book.
Also my sister Mo_thewriter (she also writes on this app. Go check out her books) made my beautiful cover for me. She actually made two. I'll share the other one so you can gush over her talent with me.
