The Storm

That night was so much better. For once I could finally sleep. But tonight was born to be different.

I got a few hours of sleep. That was before thundering and lightning woke me so abruptly. It was usual of me to jump up from my sleep in a defensive stance after the past three years. Only a storm I thought to myself.

Rubbing my eyes I began thinking. At least I was well rested. I looked around in the darkness. There's no way I could just go back to bed. For years I've woken up early and I couldn't stop now.

I walked into the bathroom turning the light on then putting in my contacts. Turning off the lights I looked in the mirror. A flash of lighting emitting just enough light for me to see my reflection.

But it wasn't my reflection. Only a ninja looked back at me. It's who I was. It's who I still am. The Ninja.

Knowing deep down I had to do this. I stretched around a little then looked back toward the closet. Lightning would strike again flashing.

I reached inside the closet pulling out my bag. I unzipped it gripping my Ninja suit in my hands. Lightning striked. I slipped it on missing this feeling of such power.

Then I slipped the mask over my face. I could hear it start raining outside. The rain hitting against the roof lightly. Then hitting harder and harder. I went down stairs sneaking.

Still silent as usual. Past one room looking in seeing my private chauffeur sprawled out in a bed. Snoring away. On the other side I could see the family butler sitting up in bed his eyes glued to a book.

The halls were dark. Help furthering my concealment. I was almost there. I thought to myself finally reaching the garage.

I lifted up the garage door just enough for me to slide under it. I move just out of the camera's point of view. Then running out of the gate between my house and the rest of Aster.

My bag stayed on my shoulder. Everything I could ever need and more was in it. Or at least that's what I thought. I look up and swear to myself, seeing the old man who must have come to take me back.

Running through the alleys as fast as I can. Looking over my shoulder then looking back I race at the wall.

Then running up the wall jumping off of it, grabbing onto the fire escape ladder. I run at the wall lifting myself up the ladder then running up the stairs.

I reached the top of the building before lightning would strike again. Letting me see that I was in fact alone. As if I had imagined seeing the old man.

Looking around I could see there was buildings I could jump to. But there was others outside of my reach. Maybe I could fix that with modern technology.

From that building, I ran off the side somersaulting myself onto the building next to it. After making it halfway I stop looking down at the city.

More rain was coming. My mind calm as I sit crossing my legs meditating. I close my eyes. But even without vision I could see and feel everything around me.

I don't know how long it had been. But it looked like it was around six am. The sun had just came out. Right when I was going to pack up and head home I heard something.

A cry for help.

Something I could never ignore. Someone in the city of Aster that needed me.

Just from that knowledge it more than likely wasn't robbing of any store. Besides it was a single scream. I would say probably a female jogging.

I spring up from relaxation spotting a lady across the street. I jump down to a lower building to get a better view. A man running away from her with a gun. He actually was coming toward me. Running across the street between the building I stood upon and the one next to it.
