ADDERTAIL'S POV
Addertail crawled out of the narrow den entrance, shaking his pelt free of moss as he took a good gander around camp. His black ear flicked.
Nothing new. He thought with a yawn, stretching out. He could hear the bones popping lightly, noting his successful stretch. With a skip in his step, he bounded over to the fresh-kill pile. There, he greeted Leafstorm, who was retrieving prey for her kits.
"Hello, Leafstorm," he nodded to the grey she. "How are the kits?"
She looked at him with her green eyes, a warm smile that every queen seemed to have adorning her features. "Oh, Addertail. The kits are fine. Jackalkit is growing quickly."
He grinned, "Is he, now? Why, he'll probably be an apprentice soon at this rate!"
"That's what I'm afraid of," Leafstorm sighed, the warmth in her gaze fading away. After noticing the confusion in Addertail's eyes, she shook her head, smiling faintly. "It's nothing."
Before he could respond in any way, his sister quickly took the vole she had taken when he wasn't looking and returned to the nursery. Now should he visit his nephew or go talk to Moonshimmer? He decided the latter and quickly walked to the brown tabby she after deciding he wasn't hungry. But, as soon as he took his first step away from the prey, a loud screech rolled down the flinty hills of WolfClan. After a moment, a booming sound similar to that of a monster growling roared, as if it were chasing after the shrill scream down the Wolf hills.
Addertail stood, confused and shocked, as most of the others did. His wide blue orbs seemed to never blink, like most cats' did, or move as he was shocked still, petrified even. He was like a stone cat. The tom heard a hoarse croak, but couldn't comprehend. It came again.
"Addertail!" Moonshimmer snapped, concern in her eyes. Albeit she could be snappy, she cared about her Clanmates and knew how to have fun. It's not easy being deputy, after all. "I need you, Frostpelt, and Batpaw to go see what that was about. It could be concerning."
"A-As you wish," he nodded, hot with embarrassment. Quickly, as to conceal his mistake, he gave his chest fur a quick lick and padded over to the two mentioned cats. Frostpelt gave a curt nod before padding off, leading the three to their destination.
On their way, they ran into the 'Coon Tree'. It's been said to be inhabited by raccoons, all through the seasons. They mostly live there during leaf-bare. Cats like Batpaw and Addertail were always the ones having to chase them out for any valuable resources the little bandits keep in their oaken hole. Batpaw was staring at the den anxiously, as if he expected a mutant raccoon to lunge out at him, claws outstretched and ready to hook into his unsuspecting flesh. Well, they were more vicious than usual during the daytime, and the WolfClan cats were just sitting there as easy prey for them.
Frostpelt hopped into the hole in the bark. Fortunately, when she came back out, she wasn't full of raccoons clinging to her pelt, trying to shake them off rigidly.
"Nothing in there but dried grass and leaves and a few twigs. Let's move on. . ."
Screech!
There was that sound again, clear as daylight. But closer. This made Batpaw even more anxious to get out of here. He certainly wasn't the right one for the job, but apparently Moonshimmer thought he'd do good for it. Well, it might prove decent training and knowledge for him, possibly. That is, if they were going to live and this all wasn't all a fatal mistake for the Clan itself. But, bracing himself, he followed Frostpelt toward the sound's origination, hopefully followed by Batpaw.
What Addertail saw next rendered him speechless. Right before them was the Guardian in all its glory--well, I wouldn't exactly say that. But, nonetheless, the Guardian was there, standing and knocking trees over in a raged fit. It left nothing behind but rubble and dust and the leaves and branches of the trees. Basically nothing but the remains of everything it touched. Or rather destroyed.
As soon as Addertail took notice of all the details he could, the large cat seemed to take notice of them, its kaleidoscope gaze fixing on them, almost like prey. Its eyes stayed on Frostpelt longer than the rest of them, which was a bit off and strange, but Addertail took it as nothing. He just stared back at the Guardian, who seemed to be eyeing them each as pieces of prey. Which one to eat first.
Oddly enough, the white she-cat seemed to be conversing with the giant herself, her usual eye color now a spark of white, glowing as if she were possessed. "Zou u overwegen hen te laten gaan, in het voordeel van me?" Her eyes remained focused, yet unfocused. If that made any sense.
"Je vrienden lijken. . .in shock, als ik het goed heb?" the Guardian rumbled, its maw dripping droplets of crimson blood. Hopefully that was just prey, like the kind they ate, and not cats. Or any other bigger animal, for that matter. Like dogs. Because those things were vicious, and anything that could kill a dog could most definitely kill three or four cats at the very least.
Frostpelt's ears lowered, seemingly losing focus for a minute, but gaining it back again. "Dat is niet het punt, Schepper. Antwoord op mijn vraag, als je wil."
"Nee," opposed the large cat as it growled, its maw opening to reveal huge, shrapnel teeth, its kaleidoscope eyes narrowing.
Frostpelt gasped, quickly lunging and losing her focus, swiping her small claws across the mountain lion's muscled face. This caused the Guardian to lose its interest in Batpaw and Addertail and snap its gaze on the smaller she-cat, eyes furious. She lowered herself, but quickly regained her own posture, fluffing up her tail and fur to seem twice as big. It still did no good, seeing as how it only made her seem just a smidge smaller than Addertail, who even then is only a bit on the Tigerclaw side of build. And, compared to the Guardian, she was like an ant to an anteater.
She was now its food.Associated with art-min and Heichous_Girl.
