Drawing her windbreaker closer around her to avoid a cold gust of wind from seeping through, Ingrid hurriedly made her way across the almost empty paddock. There were barely any people here this early in the morning and she could understand why. It was absolutely freezing outside and it didn't matter that she had a warm jacket on and a beanie over her long, blonde hair that she had done up in two braids earlier this morning. She was freezing her ears and toes off and she couldn't make it to the end of the paddock and the medical centre awaiting there quick enough.
She was desperate for a cup of coffee and some warmth. Barcelona wasn't supposed to be this cold was it? When she thought of Spain, beaches, sun and swimming in the ocean sprung to mind. Not wearing a beanie and jacket and wishing you had a pair of gloves on. She quickened her pace even more, nodding towards a couple of passerbyers.
It wasn't only her feet paddling at a high speed over the pavement in the paddock that was all over the place though, so too was her brain. It was running at a high velocity, contemplating everything that had occured last night over and over again.
After Ingrid had left Sebastian and the hotel lobby behind her last night, she and Jenson had spent the rest of the evening together having a lovely time out and about in the Barcelona night. They had chatted about everything from heaven to earth, plus all that's in between. He had been an absolute pleasure all evening long and Ingrid had come to the realisation that she really enjoyed spending time with him. Come on, he is a funny guy, charming and very sweet. He wasn't too shabby on the eye either and she was attracted to him. And yet it felt as though something important was missing...
That carefree environment and feeling of utter complacency that she had felt during her short time spent with Seb earlier the very same evening yesterday had not been lost on her mind. The way he had made her laugh and feel as though they were the only two people in the universe. Jenson hadn't managed to do the same during their date, not once, but maybe she was being a bit too harsh towards the British driver...
They had gone to a beautiful restaurant in one of the prettiest areas of Barcelona where they had spent a couple of hours getting to know each other better. Jenson seemed to have a million fascinating stories ready to tell her and he was an incredible storyteller. He just had an aura about him that managed to draw you in and he was great at conveying what he wanted to convey. She had felt a bit lost herself however, not sure which stories from her life she could tell that would enlighten him in the same way his stories had enlightened her. She hadn't spent time on a yacht in Monaco with celebrities, hadn't met the Queen of England or taken over an entire night club together with my friends celebrating the win of a Formula 1 championship.
Jenson had achieved so much with his life in a relatively short amount of time, and his stories had been so pompous that she had felt a bit overshadowed. She would never be able to meet his level in terms of life experience and adventures, and that had made her once again question if anyone of his stature could actually be interested in her. Perhaps he was still playing her, even though those thoughts had gradually disappeared the longer their date had gone on for.
Because they had been running late he hadn't had enough time to take her either to the amusement park or viewpoint of the city that he had told her was in the original plan for the date. He had promised however to make up for it the next time trying, which had smoothly led to a conversation about when he could take her out for another date.
Ingrid still felt puzzled over why he would want to take her boring arse out for another date. The fact that he had been late to their date had gotten the cogs turning in her head and she had taken a real beating to her confidence. Something that had been forgotten for a couple of moments however when Sebastian had arrived and had made her forget all about her troubles if only for a couple of wonderful minutes.
